Something I have noticed on here and in real life.

It seems fairly common for people to dump someone and go back to their ex from ages ago. I have seen this on several posts on this site. The general advice and thinking is that dumpers never go back to their exes.

Is it that when someone goes back to their ex, it is usually an ex who dumped THEM. This cant always be the case can it?

It seems that in some relationships an ex is always in the picture.

Any thoughts.

PS I'm not asking this to get any false hope, I have accepted that me and my ex will never get back together.

I can admit that I did this recently. I dated someone and he broke up with me in the beginning of January. I went back to an ex who I've kept in touch with over the years. I broke up with him after 2.5yrs of dating 6yrs ago. I didn't have my head on straight and the timing was not good overall, so it is now sadly over. He broke up with me this time.

But yes I did go back to an old ex. There is a chance it could have been better. In this case, I had positive behavior from him over the years and we met maybe 1-2x a year and kept in contact here and there. This is why I decided to test it out.

Either way the dumper and the dumpee is involved, both go back to each other. If you see what I mean, you can't have a ex going back to a dumoer without the dumper taking them back and vice versa.

I'd say it's quite common. Doesn't matter if it's the dumper or dumpee. After time passes you quite remembering the bad things about your exes, and many times you both have changed. It may or may not workout though. Just depends on what caused the breakup originally I guess.
