Hello.. Well I'm touching up my resume right this moment. I'm stuck on writing the intro cause I'm in a dilemma: My field, the thing I been doing for.. uhh 8 years now, the only thing I know and really am good at..I just don't wanna do this no more. I don't know if it's cause I'm depressed, miserable, tired, or what..

Basically, in a nutshell, I don't want a job where I'm on a computer. That's been the default office setting for this past 8 years. And I need something where I can be FREE from like 11am to 3pm EVERYDAY. That's the best times of the day. Sat and sun, only 2 days.. isn't enough. It takes too much time away.. I feel violated, like my time on earth is being stolen!! I didn't sign to this agreement when I was born. I just saw trees, and dirt, and beaches, and wanted to play in it.

Well thirty somethin years later that's still all I want to do. I want to be a user of earth. I know my philosophical reason for being here... to enjoy it. Sat/Sun isn't enough cause i'm so drained that I don't do nothing anyway. it's such a badly flawed system, but everyone just says well, gotta pay the bills..

I seriously need to win the lotto......

This sounds a lot the situation I'm in right now. A bit of a mid-life crisis. So far, I'm 97% certain that I want to work for myself. Need to find some advice on that.

Can you elaborate on being a "user of the earth"? Are you talking farming?

That's all fine and good, but now isn't really a good time to experiment in the jobs department. Jesus, be glad you have one. There are several million unemployed people in the US alone that would gladly swap places with you so you can go "figure" things out.

If you are not happy, it's understandable but just proceed with caution in this economic climate we have today and for the next few years.

Ultimately, everyone has to produce something and work. If you are going to make a career change, I would dig deep and ask yourself what you think a new career will offer over your current career. Perhaps you need a job where you interact more with people or a job that is more exciting and requires more creativity. You can also be close to 100% sure that you will not win the lotto.

I don't think I could ever be happy if I wasn't working, even if I did win millions on the lottery. I would still have to be doing something to keep myself busy and feel useful.

Work you can enjoy = sense of purpose and part of happy life

If you can programme, create something via the net or whatever. My brother works in the computing field and is absolutely determined to be work free asap after 20+ years. He now has a couple of business partners and they are simply starting multiple businesses until one or all pay off. I know he will succeed. He is the smartest person I have ever met.

:)

Think hard about how you can make the skills which you have work for you. Start with what you enjoy but think global.

All the best,

Eve xx
