New Again Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 ...to an evening date to a polo match? Any ideas? I've never been, and I don't know anyone who's gone either. I want to look cute, but it's probably going to be dusty? I also want to make some finger food and bring a picnic basket, but I have to find a number to call and see if it's OK to bring food and stuff to the match. Definitely want to make crab strudel, but what're some other good finger food ideas? Help!

I also want to make some finger food and bring a picnic basket, but I have to find a number to call and see if it's OK to bring food and stuff to the match. Definitely want to make crab strudel, but what're some other good finger food ideas? Help! Wear flat shoes, there will probably be grass that stiletto heels would sink into. Take a jacket or cardigan too if you think it might get chilly being outdoors. Don't wear your best silk dress that you wouldn't want to sit on the ground in. I would probably go for a summer dress or skirt/top if the weather is warm, or smart trousers and top if it's cooler. Check if anyone else is taking food to the polo match, otherwise you might look a bit odd if you're the only one who turns up with a picnic basket. If you do take a picnic, here are some simple ideas: Olives Greek salad with feta Sliced tomatoes with onion, herbs and olive oil Rice or pasta or potato salad Mini sandwiches Vol-au-vents Quiche French bread and various cheeses Chicken legs Strawberries Pimms with lemonade, or a little bottle of cava or champagne Enjoy your date
