There are two ways a person could fall out of love with his/her partner.

1) The relationship is too smooth-sailing. He grows bored with her

2) The relationship is rough. He gets exhausted and leaves her.

It's so easy to fall out of love. What's the point of falling in love onlt to get ourselves hurt in the end???

You could expand this and ask what's the point of life? Why work friggin all day and feel exhausted? Why bother living at all when we will die one day?

Because to have loved and lost is better than never to be loved at all.

The person who coined that phrase should have given it a try sometime.

Exactly. I think this is one of those things that most people try not to think about too much. Because if you did you'd probably realise there isn't much worth living for at all.

Wow, you're right... Yeah, why are we here?

I was implying I don't think the person who came up with that saying has any idea what they are talking about. I'm not really jaded in matters of the heart, I don't think, but I do think that particular phrase is wrong.

Felt like tossing my opinion out there on it. That's all. :)

I think sometimes you just have to realize everyone has gone through the same thing and felt the same but didn't wallow in self pity about it.

I lost my long term gf just over a week ago, hurts alot, but the pain of losing her is nothing compared to the joy she brought me when she was still mine, and I will always have that even when the pain numbs. If you give up that easily, you just don't want it that bad.

This phrase is just a nice way of stating a preference for

ecstasy and pain

over

bland, dull normalcy.

It is a sentiment I can wholeheartedly agree to.

And I think Alfred Tennyson did experience love and loss a few times in the 83 years of his life ;)

I hold it true, whate'er befall;

I feel it, when I sorrow most;

'Tis better to have loved and lost

Than never to have loved at all.

No, there's probably a thousand ways ;)

The experience.

Im with you Utterer. Id much rather feel something... the good AND the bad that may come with it... Than feel nothing.

There are people out there who are incapable of loving someone else... iwanttoloive: would you rather that? I know I wouldnt...

Plus, remember. One day youll meet someone who WONT "fall out of love with you" in either of those two ways... ;)

.... even though I agree that there are many more than two ways for that to happen ....
