Onionskin Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Every time I am in a relationship, I can never put myself in the moment and just enjoy it, I am constantly worrying that there is something/someone out there who is better for me and I am missing out on it. This makes it almost impossible to make any concrete decisions in my life. Any idea how I can help this (other than counselling!!!)?
dreamergrl Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I was like this, and not to long ago. I always had my walls up, and ready for the worst. Then, after taking some time away from dating... I realized I can't control everything. Risks have to happen in order to love, or at least find love. There will always be what ifs, but if you don't try, you'll be full of 'what could have been...' Check out the book "cope with it" - it's been very insightful to me, along with some great advice from some of the LSers.

If you try and improve your chances of getting the Very Best by leaving your options open, you will fail... this is because in order to Get Something, you must choose... if you always leave your options open, you will land up with nothing in your hands. Try to change your thinking, from that of losing out on, to that of being pleased/proud of yourself for making a Choice. It does NOT have to be the Perfect choice, but making a decision and sticking to the outcome is what you need to commit to.
