Is being skinny/having very low muscle mass the single biggest turn off to women?

Just a general topic. In my experience it certainly doesn't help a guys case.

Only if combined with short. I can deal with skinny, although I prefer a little overweight to underweight. But short and skinny does not work for me at all.

Well i'm 6ft tall, and i still get the impression that i'm not 'manly' enough for women because of my physique, and i'm not taken seriously. I suppose the guy isn't supposed to be skinnier than the girl.

If the guy is skinnier than the girl, the girl ends up feeling fat.

That's what i figured. Well, that's me screwed then. :(

I'm also the quiet, shy type so that makes it even more difficult for me.

Working out regularly with weights really does build muscles, you know.

Anyway, your metabolism will change as you get older. Just because you're thin now, does not mean you will stay that way.

In fact, when I went to my 10 year high school reunion, I was SHOCKED at how many skinny people had gotten F A T in 10 years time!

Yeah, well i'm 22 now and supposedly in my 'prime'. Sure doesn't feel like it. And i just don't feel like i should have to start a regular gym routine for the sole purpose of attracting a girl. Thanks for your feedback though.

If a woman is insecure enough that she feels fat just because you're built light and chooses to hold that against you, you don't want that sort of body image wreck anyways (except for a short-term fling if desired). I know it's not much comfort to write so many people off in such a fashion when you yourself aren't feeling good as your social needs remain unmet, but you have likely dodged some proverbial bullets here. There are too many body-dysmorphic-disordered people in the world as it is. Don't join their numbers. If you choose to train or not train, that's your business. Do it (or not) for your own purposes. (Some people like other physical activities or sports instead of gym stuff anyways.)

Enjoy real fitness, in whatever form your body may have, and live life the best you can.

You're not in your prime. You won't hit your prime until 30 or 35.

You shouldn't start a gym routine just to get girls. You should start one to get in shape and stay healthy. Strength, flexibility and endurance are for your body's benefit and for a healthier life. Plus, the endorphins that come from exercise are real and make you feel good, giving you a more positive outlook on life - and THAT is very attractive.

It's not healthy to eat crap and do nothing even if your body can metabolize all the calories away...for now. You'll end up with heart disease, clotted arteries, hypertension, and fragile bones.

Yeah, i guess. Lifes a bitch though if you're a stick figure.

Well, it sucks if you're fat, too, so you're not alone in your self-pity. :bunny:

No, being skinny, with low muscle mass, isn't the single most turnoff. I actually prefer thinner men albeit healthy. Do your body a favour and get fit. If you're already fit, don't worry about it.

I can't stand the big, bulky, pumped look in men. It doesn't look real.

Especially when all the work is done on upper body to bulk up with no work on the legs. You can see there is no cardio fitness plus they often end up with the "no neck" look

Thin is definitely better than this

A friend of mine, who is younger than me, is quite skinny and not quite the best looking, however he has had allready 3 Realitonships, and all those girls asked HIM out

I can help you gain weight 1000000000000000000000%.

I don't care how skinny you are. I don't care what your metabolism rate is. I don't care how ectomorphic you are. I don't care if no matter HOW much you lift, you can't gain a single damn pound.

Do this and I swear on my ****ing LIFE it will work better than ANYTHING ANYONE HAS EVER TOLD YOU or you've EVER read.

Here's what you do. Plain and simple.

Go to the doctor.

Ask for a prescription for Periactin. (Ask for a generic version to save money).

Ask for a prescription for Megace. (Ask for generic version again).

In 2 months, you will gain 20 lbs.

There are no side effects. The weight CAN come off if you discontinue the use of these. They are NOT steroids. They do NOT damage anything. There is NO long term damage WHATSOEVER.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU AREN'T EXTREMELY SKINNY, DO NOT USE THIS! YOU WILL GET FAT. YOU ABSOLUTELY 100000000% WILL GET FAT.

General mssg to ALL: MAKE SURE YOU LIFT WHILE YOU TAKE THESE. BECAUSE THE WEIGHT WILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL COME ON. SO MAKE SURE ITS MUSCLE. PLEASE DONT IGNORE THIS MSSG. LIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being skinny is not going to hurt you much in the dating game. Overweight is way more of a hindrance. A lot of women, attractive or otherwise, prefer slim guys - myself included. My current BF is 5'10" and 140 lbs soaking wet (10 stones for you Brits). I am extremely physically attracted to him.

Your face and your demeanor make a much bigger difference to most women.

Very few gals I've even known prefer the muscle-man look. All we want is a guy who's bigger than us. :)

Thanks to everyone for your advice, it was interesting to get some opinions on this.

It depends how skinny a guy is... there's skinny, and then there's emaciated. I once knew a guy who was 5ft 10 and 112 pounds (8 stone) - his ankles were the same thickness as my wrists. He had a crush on me but I couldn't reciprocate - he was a wonderful guy, smart, kind, funny, decent job, nice family - but I just didn't fancy him at all because he was so skinny. Dating him would have been like dating a little boy, not an adult man, because he was so skinny, and being around him did make me feel fat, even though I'm only around 125 pounds. I think he would have had a much better chance at romance with a more petite girl - there are girls out there who weigh a hundred pounds, who might be happier to date him than me because he would still be bigger than them. I think one of my immovable criteria for dating is that the guy can't be smaller than me - I want to be the woman in the relationship, I don't want to be the bigger and physically stronger partner, it makes me feel butch and less feminine.

I agree with Fay.

A little thin is better than too heavy.

Body builder bodies gross me out.

Actually, I know a lot of girls who like skinny guys. So don't fret! My first long-term bf weighed 5 lbs. more than me and was 5 inches taller! It never bothered me at all.

If you are shy, well that's another matter altogether. But really! There is a girl out there for you! Promise.

Oh, and I love your name. Go Foucault and Bentham!

It all comes down to body preference.

There's alot of skinny guys who are very cute, but overall, if they're too skinny, they do have a tendency to make the girl feel fat.

Have you thought about building muscle mass or bulking up? I'm not implying you become a body builder, but try to consider lifting some weights and build some shoulder muscles. Guys with broad shoulders are very sexy.

If it makes you feel better, man, I'm around 6' 2" and 195 lbs last time I checked. Nothing like a body builder but still pretty muscular, and balanced (not top-heavy, I actually focus on my legs more). Women generally aren't attracted to me. So...body means nothing.

Do you wear skinny jeans? Don't put on baggy clothes- stick on some cool, hip, tight skinny jeans and try to look like the Jonas Brothers.
