the CT showed no sign of cancer!

Yeah, that's good news :bunny:

Bad news... I have acute deep vein thrombosis. The clot goes from my pelvis down into my calf. One big huge clot.

Crap, that's not good news

Really sorry to hear this, have my fingers crossed for you. I would hate it if someone was following me to the loo all the time, my cat does it now and then and looks up at me all confused when I'm 'busy', it's very off-putting.

Hope you get out soon :)

I am so sorry that you are going through yet another ordeal. Fortunately, you got this in time and hopefully they will have it under control soon. Hang in there, LB, as best you can. All of LS will be sending it's positive vibes your way.

Oh wow,

That is so freaky.

Hopefully they'll be able to dissolve it, they should have the means.

Good luck LB!!!

Hope this isn't something that sticks around too long. Best of luck in your recovery.

freaky indeed, but I'm relieved you're getting the proper care at the right time. And praying that those clot-busters work.

... though now, for some stupid reason, I'm picturing a long booger-like substance in your vein

heal quickly, LB!

Wishing you a quick recovery from this! I'm also relieved that the cancer didn't come back.

Sorry that you have to go through this, sounds just awful.. I'm glad as hell that it wasn't the cancer returning..

Still sending ya good thoughts and positive energy to help you heal through this quickly.

I'm shocked they're letting you use wireless of any kind, in your room. Aren't they concerned about people with pace-makers?

It doesn't seem to be a problem. They may have people with devices like that over at the Heart Center (its a separate building). There are places where you can't use your cell or computer but the rooms on my wing are ok.

I'm sincerely glad to hear that. It puts my faith back into medical facilities. :)

You actually thought they wouldn't have thought about the idea that her laptop might actually terminate several heart patients on the next floor? Like it's an oversight? Do things like that happen often in the Canadian health care system?

By the way, I am really relieved to find out that this is treatable and in the big picture relatively harmless. At least relative to the things you were making us all think was wrong, LB.

Since we have nationalized healthcare, what better way to reduce the cost to the majority of taxpayers?

LB, I'm just so relieved to hear it's not cancer. What you have obviously isn't trivial (I read about it online), but you'll survive it. Keep being strong!

Exactly my thoughts.

But I am very glad that LB doesn't have cancer. This will sort itself out soon enough.

I was just teasing my favorite Canadian poster, because her reaction to teasing is always so rewarding. She's no dummy.

I know, the girl is between life and death...

And someone asks, are you sure you can be using the computer over there? Someone might get hurt. omg

(And she had to log in to respond to that...)

LB, good news too about the non cancer. Yey.

Still, why would she even mention that? It seems kind of out of place in this thread.

Ever heard of the big picture? There are lots of sick people at the hospital. While we should be concerned about LB, we need to remember that she is not the center of the universe. Would it be right for several other people to die while she is there getting treatment for her deep vein thrombosis and posting about it to us? I don't think so. Do you?

Ummm, I am sure that both, medical doctors there and LB are actually aware of this and LB wouldn't have used the computer if it wasn't OK to use. LB is certainly no dummy either. So the question still remains pointless.

OMG

Why are these people stressing LB is beyond me.

What comments!

I don't get offended that easily but this is totally uncalled for and unnecessary on LB's thread. THIS THREAD IS ABOUT HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take it somewhere else and make your own thread about it, don't threadjack this one!

Look, I started this by posting something that a few others felt was unnecessary. johan being johan, decided to jack with my comment. It progressed from there. If LB needs an apology, I'm more than happy to give it.

LB, I'm sorry for starting something but no harm was intended.

Johan, there is time and place for your humor and this certainly isn't it.

LB, I am sorry too for my off topic comments. I hope that you are staying strong.

I'm in the hospital now. Good news and bad. Good news... the CT showed no sign of cancer!

Bad news... I have acute deep vein thrombosis. The clot goes from my pelvis down into my calf. One big huge clot. Never would have guessed that since the Doppler came back negative on Friday. The ultrasound yesterday, however told a totally different story.

I don't know what will happen now. No one is really talking to me except to say how serious it is, and I am monitored 24-7. Can't even go to the bathroom by myself. They make sure that when I stand someone is there by my side. They are expecting a pulmonary embolism I guess.

Hate it when they don't talk to you. I completely empathize.

Where's Dr. Blue Jeans, LuB? ;) He gonna be 'round soon?

Take it gentle and easy...gentle and easy.

I am on one drug now that they inject into my stomach, and am getting ready to start an IV drip of another one. They are hoping to shrink it some, and put in a filter. No word on what will happen. They are going to see what happens with the swelling.

So it is still very touch-and-go. Uber-frustrating.

I hope you can update again asap. Things are still unclear at the moment...

Can't thank you enough for coming to update us. I know it can't be easy. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say that if we are getting a bit snippy and weirded-out, it's because we care a lot for you - wish there was more we could actually do.

Please hang in. I can believe that being in the hospital could be stirring some things up from the past, but just remember - this is different, this is now.

Keep your head up.

(((LB)))

Keeping you in my thoughts, beautiful.

First of all, I thought LB WAS the center of the universe...at least hers. :D And that is a good thing. Anyone on HER thread should respect that and treat her as such. (Slightly off topic...we all think we are the main actor in our own Truman Show, don't we? That is how many of us act anyhow). Incidentally, I think what Johan was trying to say is...the concern of how every patient does on the hospital floor ranks higher than any one patient's need for a wireless connection.

Second, LB, when you mentioned your leg, I thought of my sister who had the identical symptoms and had what you now mention you have. She too was immediately bed bound for fear of a blood clot. She was put on Coumadin (which is also used in rat poison...no need to worry though, LB, you are NOT a rat  ), and in a few hours she was much better. It took a few days, but her leg returned to normal. BTW, they also put in a filter/stint to keep any clots from reaching her brain (I think). Anyhow, hers developed due to a benign tumor in her ovary.

So, while this sounds scary and worrisome, it is actually a very treatable thing since you are in the hospital. Yes, there are still risks, but they are much less since you are being monitored.

This is a relief. I hope you are feeling better now.

Have the doctors explained your fake pregnancy symptoms? Or are they completely unrelated to DVT and are a side effect of your medication?

I hope that you are hanging in there and at least have your pain managed.
