wow123 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I just think that technology is killing relationships. Cell phones, Texting, Myspace, Facebook...just think about all of the problems these things have caused you in relationships. If we just stuck with house phones and no internet the jealousy and arguments would not be what they are today. Did this lead to the increase in the divorce rate? Is this why the average marriage rate has gone up drastically? Thoughts?
vring81 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I only speak from my own experience but if it werent for myspace, my ex would have never found her ex and left me for her. Oh well...
moo Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I emailed my ex with anger when I should have talked to him face to face. I keep my facebook profile pretty simple. I don't put pics of other people on there. I'm very careful as who to have for friends on facebook. I've never texted anyone. Anyway, I think technology can ruin relationships. With some people, they treat others like buses (another one will come along in 5 minutes). "Oh, I broke up with her, so what, I'll just go to online dating and get someone else." Relationships take WORK. People today want instant relationships, instant sex, instant gratification, but don't want to put effort into these things.

If someone uses a tool in an abusive fashion, it's already something that's inherent within them. Having said that, my fiance and I barely text and don't do Myspace or Facebook. We call, email, IM or best yet, SEE people we want to keep in touch with. With each other, we primarily see each other and phone, or swap the occasional email. If I have blanket correspondence and pics to send around to friends, I'll email it using my email groupings.
bella16 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Texting tore my relationship apart and now I no longer have a boyfriend. We communicated too much over text so thats all we did. He took things the wrong way too many times. Broke up with me and we are no longer together. So I can agree with this post.
