iwanttolive
Just curious.. Are they more protective over petite gals?
Jersey Shortie
I don't think so. I think men are protective of women they come to love. Although, sometimes what men consider being protective is more about their needs then the woman's.
Bayern
I could see it, yeah. I might be that way, I'm not sure.
Els
I would think so, naturally. Even though I'm a girl, I help girls smaller than myself if I see them carrying stuff. I don't usually help those who appear stronger unless they're struggling.
Trialbyfire
As someone who's petite, I can't complain about the amount of help received. It's really endearing and can be totally hawt, when someone goes out of their way to offer courteous aid.
Ruby Slippers
I think it's a function of the size of the love, not the size of the person. I'm tall, athletic, and strong, but my men have always been so adorable with their protective behavior. I think the fact that they realize I probably don't need it just fuels the flame. Trialbyfire
IME, taller men are more helpful and protective, than smaller men. This is something I've noticed with complete strangers.
Jersey Shortie
Would agree with Trial on that one.
Els
IME, taller men are more helpful and protective, than smaller men. This is something I've noticed with complete strangers. Hmm. Not in my experience. I've had guys shorter than me offer me their help before! It isn't because I don't notice height either. Every single guy whom I've hooked up with has (coincidentally?) been tall (well.. by Asian standards at least).

In retrospect of my business travel days, it was more often tall men who automatically helped me getting any bags or parcels off carousels, out of the overhead, etc. For that matter, just this last winter, when my car got stuck a few times with the heavy snows, it was always tall men who helped, including my fiance! kizik
Yep, us shorties don't ever help no women! <laughing at what a silly and useless point TBF made is>
Els
What's your definition of 'tall' and 'short'?
Trialbyfire
What's your definition of 'tall' and 'short'?I'm not touching that one with a ten foot pole!
sally4sara
It would make sense for modern men to feel a slight urge to be more protective of smaller women. Anthropological studies of our species origin shows our genders were originally much closer in size than first thought. The urge to seek a smaller female mate was not done of a sexual preference, but rather a clue the male looked for that she would be less likely to compete with their offspring for food resources after weaning. To compensate, females began to choose larger males as an indication that they could carry more food resource and would seek more food for their own larger appetite. Also the larger the male, the smaller the female would appear to him; making her look like a good choice. That was how we ended up with a bit larger size discrepancy and why you see men more comfortable with a partner that is smaller then they are rather than larger. And why women seem more comfortable with a larger mate then they are. It is just left over hard wiring.
sally4sara
Yep, us shorties don't ever help no women! <laughing at what a silly and useless point TBF made is> I found men closer to my size to be good choices for sex; everything matches up better when there isn't such a huge size difference. Worst sex ever was with a guy over a foot taller than myself.

kizik
I didn't miss it. I think it's a claim akin to saying that pretty girls hold doors more often... totally weird and off-base from reality.

That you don't like it, doesn't make it less of a reality, at least in my experience. Note the "IME" v. stating "all men"....
Star Gazer
I agree with TBF. IME, taller men are more helpful than the shorter ones when it comes to chivalrous acts of assistance. Perhaps this is because the shorter ones see me as more of an equal, and therefore not in anymore need of their help than they are of mine. *shrug*
kizik
OK well, I can only speak for myself. As a 5'7" guy, I'm always a gentleman. And if I were taller, I'd be the same way.
Els
Well, if it makes you feel better, 5'7" is considered tall where I come from.
kizik
Thanks. I'm pretty OK with my height, save for the occasional useless comparing-myself-to-others day.
