whimsical_memory Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Oh my GAWD! I am the DUMBEST thing to hit the streets since....well I don't know. I was chopping up jalapeno peppers and STUPID NINNY that I am, bebops along and WIPES my face with my hands. My face is on *F-I-R-E*. HELP!!! Everywhere I touched (under the eyes, upper lip) is burning and feels horrible.
Sweetcheripie Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 OUCH! Poor thing - rinse, rinse, rinse and rinse some more with cold water. NO hot water or warm water - that will open the pours even more.
Thaddeus Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Milk. Wipe your face/hands with milk. There's something in it that will counteract much of the burning.
GorillaTheater Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Milk. Wipe your face/hands with milk. There's something in it that will counteract much of the burning. I think milk is somewhat alkaline, so it acts as an antacid. Theoretically, any liquid antacid should help but I've never tried that.
burningashes Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 This is probably too late, but use a base to neutralize the acid. Milk is preferable to water since the chemical agents in hot peppers that cause the burning are not water soluble!
