Strange question, but I was wondering whether anyone here who has been posting for a long time has ever seen a thread where two ex's have seen each others posts? Like they know from the stories that they have told that its each other...am I making sense? I know the chances are extremely slim, but thought I'd ask! It'd be so strange if that happened! :p

Only been here for a year, but no - never seen that. At least it wasnt out in the open that they were the same two people.

Thing is, this place -IMO - is mostly for those that were dumped.

I guess the chances are extremely thin.. if you put details that can be easily recognizable.. then yes it could happen I guess..

But a lot of stories are similar in the end.. :o

Agreed. Dumpers are off f*cking other people and breaking new hearts. There's no WAY they'd ever come here, b/c they're NOT hurting, and they DON'T care about their exes.

There is one which I can think of, from about 2 years ago when i first came here. I think it was more of an ex's friend saw the story, told the friend and then the ex came and read the thread.

If I recall (and maybe the poster will respond, if they see this thread) the couple got back together for a little while due to the revelations and POV seen in the posts, but it didn't last.

The changes made did not last, I suppose.

There were 2 posts: the guy was the dumpee, the girl saw his thread here and wrote a high-faluting love letter. everybody discouraged the guy from taking her back (he just found a new gf). i hope he did not, she wrote a prose more to impress the readers. it was not a genuine letter.

wow, so it did actually happen! :o It would be interesting if that person were to comment

Kizik - I am technically a dumper. I have been a few times. It's unfair to pigeon hole so easily. Although, I think you have a point that dumpers are less likely to come to this site and feel the same pains as the dumpees do, but its not that simple sometimes.

I've never seen a thread like that.

That's not true at all. I've been the dumper in most of the relationships I've posted about on here looking for support and the reason for the end of the relationships was generally cheating on the girl's part.

Ending a relationship doesn't make someone a bad person. Sometimes it's a necessary action.

not to take the point off the original post, but agreed. I get the feeling my ex gf has chosen not to take me back because of the many complications that I provided. She's by no means 'f*k*ng other people, breaking new hearts and not caring'. But still agree that its mostly dumpees on this site.

Another interesting question, what would the veterans say was the average age of LS?

It's a pretty wide age range. I would guess the average is in the 30's. There are plenty of 20-somethings, 30-somethings, and 40-somethings here. There are also some people on either end of that spectrum.

I can think of one where the dumper (who was then-regular) posted here, and the girl he dumped somehow came across his thread. He stopped posting under that name, but is still around under another name.

I also recall another occasion where a current regular had her "boyfriend" come post here to "defend" her against the comments made by the LS community.

Not true at all. I couldn't eat or sleep after I initiated my last breakup, I felt awful. Screwing other people and breaking new hearts was pretty much the last thing I wanted to do. Don't be bitter now kizik because of your breakup, you may be in the driving seat in the future. ;)

I don't remember the first but I remember the second. Interesting...

OK well, I stand corrected.

Ah! Okay, yep, remember that.

Yes, I've seen it and experienced it. I've had two exes "find" me on LS, where one actually joined and posted a thread. At the time, I wondered if it was him and then confirmed it, after the fact.

Another voice of disagreement with this. I was the dumper in my last relationship, and I initially came here when we started having major problems and I was trying to figure out whether or not I should break up with him. I made the decision after a lot of thinking, soul-searching, consulting friends. Hell, I even spent money I didn't really have to see a counselor. I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. On top of all this, I talked to him more than once about my concerns and told him outright that I was considering ending the relationship because of our problems.

I was in love with him and wanted to marry him, but I think that ultimately we were not compatible. I broke up with him with as much civility as possible, as I always do. He even commented on how rational and fair it was, saying, "This relationship was unlike any I've had before, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the breakup is unlike any other, too. No screaming and no blaming."

As for ****ing new people and breaking hearts, ten months after the breakup, I haven't had sex since, and letting go of the hopes I had for us has been a long, painful, laborious process. A few of my guy friends have flirted, but since I see no future with those guys, I have made it clear I'm not interested.

Is this sarcasm? That isn't true at all. Yeah it sucks being dumped, but best believe the dumper does hurt, miss, and care for the ex. If they don't care, and are off ****ing other people, well, I'm not gonna say they aren't hurting. Sex is just sex. Passion is so much more than that. I'm the one ****ing other people and it doesn't help alleviate or speed up anything. I'm still thinking about her and missing her.

Biggest lesson learned through my breakup:

Sex is just that, sex. Purely physical. Love is unmatched. Your current SO could've had their brains ****ed out by some hot stud or bangin ass South Beach Brazilian broad, and yeah they probably liked it, but if they love you, don't even second guess how much more they prefer sex with you than them.

So yeah, even if your ex is ****ing other people soon after your breakup, so what? All it means is they enjoy sex. What it doesn't mean is that they've moved on, that they're love for you is dead, that they do not miss you, or that they're a heartbreaker. Sex is just a basic human need.

My ex wasn't very open with sex until she met me. I'm sure she'll thoroughly enjoy her sex life now because of how much I turned her out. ****, I expect she's ****ing another guy now. It doesn't phase me. I already know that the connection they share now doesn't have **** on what we had. And I already know that their sex isn't going to be as great as what her and I had if that connection isn't up to par.

Sorry for going off on a tangent about sex lol...just had to give my two cents ya dig?

Mr. DM, I really liked your post. I had the biggest pang in my stomach every time I think about my ex fking another girl. Sex is just sex.

Mr DM

I do agree with you. But I think I have a problem with sex. I can honestly say I think this comes down to watching too much p*rn and possibly issues of self-confidence. My ex has had sex once since, and it is inevitable she will have sex again! She has actually told me things that make me feel good...wont go into them!...but I still hate the feeling that someone in the future will be doing it to them, and they could be better etc. I don't know why though. When I search deep, I know sex is sex just like you said. But on a day to day thought occurrence, sex isn't just sex, and the idea turns my stomach. (and this is where the P*rn comes in!) I have vivid imaginations of my ex turning into some rampant slut...I know this is stupid, but I just imagine it. Like inflicting pain on to myself. Also, I agree with you about making her enjoy sex, I think I have too, which could possibly backfire on me now!

I have never been more quoted! Lovin' it. I should try being a troll, like that New To Love Shac guy.

^ I had to speak up! I have seen you and others talk about how the dumper is a heartless bitch/******* who feels nothing. It's a totally unfair and incorrect generalization.
