The OP asks the longest period of time we've gone without "seeing" someone, not the longest period of time we've been single or gone without sex. :p

So, using "seeing someone" as the standard (which I would include as anywhere from a date up to the point right before exclusivity and/or sex), I think the longest I've gone without at least "seeing" someone is probably 2, maybe 3 months.

Well generally, I meant, close to that, perhaps I should have worded it better. ONS I meant to include.

It's just a general enquiry to see how long people have went without really doing anything with the opposite sex, out of choice.

Just to add, I noticed the "seeing," was quoted multiple times. It's because in Uk we hardly ever say date, it's more an american thing, so seeing someone can be anything from being with someone to "dating" ;p.

I've never felt the need to really go out looking, I mean I got lonely sometimes during that time, but when I did go out, I never really found anybody interesting enough to consider trying to progress, until recently, now with the previous girl, she kind of awoken something that's been sleeping dormant for 5 years.

Sounds like it. Also, anyone who hasn't been single for any longer than 3 months is obviously a slut who NEEDS to attach to a guy in order to feel secure.

How very judgmental of you. I'm not surprised you've been single your whole life.

I'm getting ready to head into a dating sabbatical. Who knows how long. Maybe the rest of my life would be a good idea. It makes me tired just thinking about it.

that includes all random hookups, sex, everything, and it's done purely by choice until you meet someone you really want to be with? I want to see If I'm a freak here or there are more people like me.
In my case, it would be always.

Hooking up with a dopey fat chick is easy. I'm just not crazy enough to do it.

Why so negative? Some people just can't handle being alone. It's their life. If they rather spend time with someone they are not completely sure about than be alone, who are you to judge. Especially after you proved to be a true gentlemen yourself, calling her a slut.

She said herself that she gets new boyfriends before dumping the old ones. Sorry, I realize my comment was mean and over the top and I apologize for it, but that kind of mentality hits a nerve with me.

And how very judgmental of YOU, by the way =p.

A little over a year, half by choice and the other half not by choice with the same guy. Now if we are talking about a meaningful relationship then 26 years.....sigh.

Last fall and winter, but then she wouldn't let me touch her, so I'm not sure that counts....

I'm approaching my year anniversary. Ironically, my first date in 12 months is this Friday (:))

I didn't call anyone names. There are grown-up ways to communicate and hurling names at people is not one of them. Especially when the name you chose makes no dang sense. Insecure, possibly. Slut???? WTF.

Heard from a female friend, describing her behavior after breaking up with her H and moving out: "I went crazy for awhile. Probably slept with more men than I should have". I have no idea why she'd tell me this. She certainly doesn't want to sleep with me ;):D

Is one person's 'crazy' another's 'slut'? No clue. If I ever go 'crazy', I'll report back :)

3 years then I met my BF now fiance.

6 months. It was after my nasty divorce/child custody battle. The last thing I wanted in my life was another woman at that time.

It's been about a month now, which is equal to my previous longest time without. The first couple of weeks I was a bit manic in my attempts to find someone else to bed/begin a meaningful relationship, but after not finding anyone I fancied in that time am now enjoying the total freedom and lack of drama that comes with being single. Ironically I am sure now that I radiate this indifference it will make it all the more likely someone will make it her mission to end my happy bachelorhood.

A year and counting, and it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be.

One adjusts.

I have known a guy who was without it for 21 yrs.

'It' meaning female companionship or 'it' meaning sex? We're talking about seeing someone, as in companionship with the opposite sex. That's what I based my numbers on, anyway :)

a) Stop being so sensitive. It wasn't even you. The chick I called a slut hasn't even responded, which shows me she doesn't give a **** - a very good quality. Why are you personally taking so much offense?

b) I apologized in my last post, saying that I went over the top, but you seemed to completely ignore it. That leaves me to assume that you just want to fight with someone. I'm not playing that game.
