Just wondering...if you have a good date, what should a woman do afterwards.

Seems like most people will say play it cool and wait to see if he asks you out again, which I'm starting to agree with. To encourage contact, do men like a text or email just saying thanks for a nice evening or is it really better to do nothing at all?

I usually wash my face and have ice cream.

Seriously, if it was a really great date and lots of laughter and fun, I'd send a text or an email or give him a call. If it was mediocre, I might text, I might wait. If it was cruddy, I'd not call.

I'm for playing it cool, I guess, but to an extent. I am not going to chase some guy around, but I also am an enthusiastic and communicative person. If I am really appreciative, then I tell him thank you post-date.

Thanks Lucky One - that makes sense.

If the date was good and you chose to email or text, do you simply say thanks or do you throw out any hints about getting together again? I think in the past I've done too much pursuing so I'm working to find the right balance.

I guess it depends on if I really want to see him again?

I just don't mind letting someone know something. "Tonight was wonderful, and thanks for introducing me to profiteroles! Next time, I'll let you have the cherry on top!"

He knows I want to see him again, he knows I had fun, he knows I like dessert.

Because in the long run, if he isn't all that into me, then I really haven't lost anything, have I? I won't have any questions, I won't have any regrets, I will just know that I wasn't the perfect girl for him at this time.

I guess I have never been crushed by a first date rejection, where I really really really liked someone and they didn't ever call me or contact me again. But even then, I think I would just say "Oh well. This didn't go any further, but gosh he was cute!" I mean, I was myself - I was the way I would be regardless, so there wasn't like anything I could do differently to change his mind, you know?
