moo Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Yesterday I cried and cried. It started in the middle of the street while walking home with my roommate. Boy, did I cry. Today I'm much better. I worked on my scrapbook. Weekends hurt the most. Weekends are the hardest. I stayed strong though....I did not call him. I did not contact him at all. I am staying strong today too. But it is hard. Whenever I do crafts on the weekend, I do not cry. Crafts really are wonderful way to help with emotional pain.
MWC_LifeBeginsAt40 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 That is awesome! It's great when you have something to keep yourself occupied. I did yard work, lots and lots of it, and now I ache all over. I would have much preferred having people around me though, to help keep my mind occupied as well.
Giha Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Hobbies in general are one of the best tools to handle with this kind of stuff Whenever I feel down, I just pick up my guitar or play my piano and it really helps Keeping busy is the key. And yeah weekends are tough, I hard a hard weekend as well
Exit Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I had an awesome weekend. I spent the entire time cleaning and I mean CLEANING out my entire life. Garbage can in the yard is full, there's a stack of clothes going to charity, and it's much less chaotic in here now. I agree, weekends have been the hardest for me, but this was the best one so far. My ex is a packrat and I probably would have been miserable trying to live with her. It felt good to break my own habits and throw away things that I kept thinking "I'll need that some day" for the last ten years.
D-Lish Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Crafts really are wonderful way to help with emotional pain. Wish I had heard that advice sooner... I just drank lots and lots of beer.
SRTtoZ Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Amem man...Def the hardest. Hardest for me being that I ONLY saw her on the weekends so when thats ripped away from me I got nada. Just keep busy...I go out with friends a lot now and keep busy all the time. If you start thinking about random memories just force yourself to stop...Its tough man. Walking around the mall the other day and remembering all of her fav stores and what she bought last time etc...SUCKS BIG TIME.
Author moo Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 I never drink when I am depressed. I'm always afraid if I do that, the chances of me doing it again when I get depressed will go up. You can get craft books from the library and lots of ideas from the internet. You can do a scrap book on a subject you find interesting. If you like nature, take pics of trees, flowers, etc., and you can make a scrapbook with them. I have two scrapbooks. One is a nature scrapbook. On one page, I have a beautiful pink clouds that I snapped a pic of during the sun set. I glued the pic to a slightly larger white paper in the shape of a rectangle to make a frame for the pic and then the whole thing to pink cardstock. The cardstock had holes (I made with a three ring hole puncher) so I could fit it into my binder. Then I got a poem about clouds off the internet, pasted it in microsoft word, used a pretty script font, then printed it, cut it from the page it was printed on and glued it to the pink cardstock under the pic of the clouds. I also put a date and time next to the pic so I know that on that day, at that time, that is what the sky looked like. Believe me, it's better than drinking.
t0ri Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 During the week is worse for me, because I'm less busy then. Anytime I'm not busy sucks, actually. I never drink when I am depressed. I think I might try something similar out
Author moo Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 If you have a digital camera and you don't want to develop the pics, you can do a digital scrapbook. There are free digital scrapbooks on the web. You can put pics and clip art in them. I also got some cheap colored pencils and crayons at Walmart, because I like to draw. If you are curious about your family history, you can trace your roots. Now that takes up lots of time and it is very interesting.
