SummerLady Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I have a custody hearing coming up in December. I am asking to leave the state and move to the adjacent state about 1 hour and 30 min away. My job is requiring me to move offices for a promotion and I would like to make more money and progress in my career. My lawyer said if my employer writes a letter I have a good shot at this. Plus the man I potentially will be spending the rest of my life with lives near there. Has anyone here tried to move under 2 hours away and got this. I have primary custody now but if I moved his visitation would go down some due to the 1 hour and 30 min away. I am willing to forgo any additional money from my ex since his visitation will go down, which would make his child support go up, I am fine keeping the amount at what it is now. Any experiences or opinions?
dunstable Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I don't know anything about legal precedents but a 90 minute journey doesn't seem to me to be excessive (I'm assuming you mean by car not plane). That's just my qualitative judgment.
