Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I'm cooking dinner for a certain female friend tomorrow. Just thought I'd share the news. First date in a LONG time.
whichwayisup Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That's great Pyro! Relax and just have fun - No expectations except to make her feel special and make her laugh! What are you cooking?
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Keeping it simple with a pasta feast. The challenge is dessert. She is a huge fan of strawberry pie and I will attempt for the first time ever to make a pie. This could be the make it or break it factor. No expectations indeed.
kizik Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Right on! I'll be on a date tomorrow night too. I'll think of ya
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Right on! I'll be on a date tomorrow night too. I'll think of ya Hopefully not thinking of me the entire date. Bad joke I know. Best of luck to you as well.
kizik Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Hopefully not thinking of me the entire date. Nope, just when I'm plowing her in the butt.
BenThereDunThat Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Show of hands: how many of the women here just got a teeny bit jealous and wishes Pyro were cooking for them? /raises hand... Good luck with the strawberry pie. I'd give you pointers but I never made one...
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Nope, just when I'm plowing her in the butt. :lmao: Thats great.
LostLamb Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Nothing beats a man who is a good cook! Well one or two things but cooking for someone is sexy and sweet.
Citizen Erased Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Show of hands: how many of the women here just got a teeny bit jealous and wishes Pyro were cooking for them? /raises hand... Good luck with the strawberry pie. I'd give you pointers but I never made one... Heck yes, that lucky woman.
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Can't you just buy the pie? Have fun. She already told me that she won't eat a store bought one. She is so excited because she says that none of her ex's have ever cooked for her. Center stage is all mine tomorrow. Show of hands: how many of the women here just got a teeny bit jealous and wishes Pyro were cooking for them? /raises hand... Good luck with the strawberry pie. I'd give you pointers but I never made one... We can do dinner next week.
Land Shark Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 :lmao: Thats great. He meant when he donkey punches her. He'll think of you then.
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Nothing beats a man who is a good cook! Well one or two things but cooking for someone is sexy and sweet. Thanks. My A game will be on tomorrow......hopefully. Heck yes, that lucky woman. I'll stop by next week to throw some shrimp on the barbie for you.
BenThereDunThat Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 We can do dinner next week. Depends on how the strawberry pie turns out....
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 He meant when he donkey punches her. He'll think of you then. That hurts thinking about it.
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Depends on how the strawberry pie turns out.... Fair enough.
The Blue Pill Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Good luck on the date! You can't really mess up pasta! If you really want to impress her, make your own special pasta sauce. There's a lot of room to play with seasonings/flavorings and it will be you're own personal touch. Just a thought! I heart cooking

There's a lot of room to play with seasonings/flavorings and it will be you're own personal touch. Just a thought! I heart cooking Thats the plan. There is a shelf in the pantry loaded with just about anything you can think of seasoning wise. If its successful then we'll have some Pyro pasta.
Citizen Erased Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I'll stop by next week to throw some shrimp on the barbie for you. That is the best pickup line I have ever heard.

I think it's really neat that you're going to make a pie for her!
BenThereDunThat Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That is the best pickup line I have ever heard. I do have one tip: did you know they sell pre-sliced frozen strawberries in the grocery store? I didn't until a few days ago. Since you're basically making the meal from scratch, I think you can save yourself some time/frustration and get those for the pie. She'll never know. Exactly what kind of pie are you talking about anyway? Cream-based, tart-like? Or just plain strawberries and glaze?
Author Pyro Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 I think it's really neat that you're going to make a pie for her! Its only neat if it turns out ok.

It'll be mixed in with jello mix and a graham cracker crust, so whatever category that falls into.

But the pre-sliced should work GREAT in that. Just buy some fresh whole ones for garnish. Don't forget some dollops of whipped cream on top for a finishing touch. Which, of course, will leave you with some leftover whipped cream....
