writergal Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Does anyone have any advice regarding delayed asthma attacks? I don't have any seasonal allergies. Yet, in the summertime when I exercise (even mild activity), I always experience shortness of breath a few hours afterward. I never feel short of breath immediately after exercise. I smoked cigarettes for 15 years but then quit 4 years ago. I'm 38 years old. My lungs are clear. I don't have lung cancer or COPD thankfully. My hope is that its due to my sedentary lifestyle which I have been trying to change. Im petite and about 20 Ibs overweight. I'm totally scared to exercise because even when I did my cardiac stress test, I experienced delayed asthma 3 hours after the test, which lasted about 6 hours until I was able to breathe well again. Does anyone have any similar experience with delayed asthma like symptoms, or have asthma? Do I need to take a daily steroid in addition to the use of an inhaler? I've heard that albuterol or advair has nasty side effects like depression, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, heart palpatations. How can I get back in shape without killing myself in the process?
Trimmer Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 C'mon now - have you seen a doctor about this, and what did he/she/they say? Don't you think that has to be your first step?
