EYECANDY000 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I met someone recently and we have been intimate with each other. Now, the conversation came up if I am on any kind of birth control. And I told him no. He stated that if we became intimate often then that would mean that I would have to get on some type of birth control. Which I objected. I know everyones body is different and have different symptoms. But I've seen how the shot has made people put on a lot of weight, the patch gives them mood swings, etc etc. I just want to keep it simple and stick with condoms. Now, with all that said, and I expressed how birth control makes women have mood swings, weight gain, sex drive plunges and he feels that it would be better if I got on birth control instead of him getting a vesectomy. To me I feel like if I have to sacrifice my body then so should he. Also, I've know a lot of females who have been on birth control for so long that they are having trouble having kids. Do you think that its more complicated for a guy to get a vesectomy than a woman getting on birth control?

Well a vasectomy is more permanent, some doctors will not even perform one on someone without kids, or who they think is too young. I believe a vasectomy is reversible but its certaintely more permanent than a birth control pill. Does he never want kids?
sally4sara Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Banking sperm and getting a vasectomy is the most fool-proof way for a man to take control of his own reproductive health without relying on the mental or physical health, morals, intentions, or level of responsibility of others. I advise it to all men. But condoms are the only viable way to protect against STDs.
Lucky555 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 i totally agree with you about birth control. My friend went through some tough times because it affected her mood, body, and relationships with others! This is why i am careful to choose a good guy in a relationship because babies can happen even if you are on the pill. I believe if I were in a relationship with someone i would go on birth control though, as much as i know about it, I have heard mirena had worked for my friend so I might try that if a relationship were serious. I wish guys would get a vasectomy but i know too many guys don't want to. However, if I didn't want to have kids i would make sure to have a procedure done. Its so complicated and this is what makes me so serious about relationships because the responsibility of having a child could potentially be mine if something were to happen. i am interested in hearing what others have to say on this.
