tigressA Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I talked to my boyfriend about my frustrations (lack of work, being cooped up in the house more, him making a big stink out of me asking him to go out anywhere, lack of sex). I said, "I'm failing the test right now, and I'm sorry. It's not anything you've done; I was expecting this before I even came here to stay with you and I'm finding that I can't handle it. I'm expecting things to be more like they were when we were apart more often but they're not, and I've been a baby about everything. I'm going to try harder to look at the bright side of things because I care about you a lot and I feel like we're a good fit; I want things to work." He said he was glad that I opened up to him, and he apologized for being grumpy about doing things on the weekends. We agreed that every Saturday, since it's the only day we have off together, we'll go out and do something fun. So we've been trying that and things have been working out really well. This past weekend we went to see No Doubt in concert Friday night (AWESOME, by the way), and then my friend's wedding was on Saturday (which was lovely and great fun, except for a kind-of awkward incident between my friend and me). The weekend before that, we went to NYC--the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the High Line and a market specializing in British foodstuffs. My job has finally been picking up again too, so work has been readily available. I realized that I would be throwing a lot away over a few issues that were easily resolved through frank discussion, compromise and follow-through. I'm glad I decided to be honest and re-dedicate myself to our relationship; we've been a lot happier with each other since then.
Lake of fire Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Isn't that lovely TigressA...that you took the risk in talking with him and it paid off... So happy for you and well done - it's always lovely when that happens! It sometimes takes courage to lay your feelings out on a platter and I'm glad it worked out well ~ Lake of fire ~
