ruggy Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 So I was flirting with this woman online. Always curious why she never responded. Then, while online, she IM'd me. I asked, why didn't you respond to my e-mails. She said she could not read them cause she did not have a paid account. I mean, come on, no pay account. Is this common?
dreamergrl Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I stopped paying for dating sites a long time ago. It has nothing to do with being cheap. It just wasn't worth it to me. I wasn't going to continue spending money monthly not getting any good dates, meeting guys just looking to hook up, ect ect.
loveslife Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I think it is common. Might just be that it hasn't been worth her money to subscribe. If there are other ways to communicate use those.
JohnnyBlaze Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 It could be that she's cheap, but it could also be that she doesn't have faith in that particular dating site yet. Many sites say "yeah, we'll find you a match instantly!". But when it comes down to it, they're just a joke. Then mulitply that by the number of sites out there. Say she's on five sites, and each one charges $20/mth for the premium membership. That puts her at $100/mth for the hope that one site in 5 is somewhat serious. Nowadays, hoping for a 20% success rate on sites picked is probably an overly optimistic number. So no, she's not going to spend the money on every dating site she goes on. If you want to talk with her via e-mail, the next time you IM her, ask her for her email address. Then you can email her all you want off of the dating site's radar.

I wasn't going to continue spending money monthly not getting any good dates, meeting guys just looking to hook up, ect ect. That's completely different.
lizzy_09 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 She said she could not read them cause she did not have a paid account. I mean, come on, no pay account. Is this common? I don't think so. As far as what I have surf on the net, I know one can open their e-mail and read it. But once you reply to the e-mail, some websites require that you pay their fee first before they send your reply. I've encountered that on some dating sites before.
turkstragal Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Paying for dating sites sounds like a big waste of money to me..I can think of better ways to spend my money and lots of free places online and off to meet people..
dreamergrl Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 That's completely different. I don't think so. As far as what I have surf on the net, I know one can open their e-mail and read it. dreamergrl Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 You are cynical, she is just cheap. I like to think of it as learning from experience.

Match won't let you even READ the email unless the person that sent it is a "Platinum" member. And Bob, how do you know that the girl isn't cynical about results from said site rather than just cheap? Ruggy - It's possible that maybe she's been on the site for awhile. Who's to say that she didn't pay for a 6 month membership, nothing panned out, the membership ran out and now she just doesn't want to pump more money into it?
lizzy_09 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Some sites wont even let you read your email if you don't pay. Really? Negative. Match won't let you even READ the email unless the person that sent it is a "Platinum" member. Ruggy - It's possible that maybe she's been on the site for awhile. Who's to say that she didn't pay for a 6 month membership, nothing panned out, the membership ran out and now she just doesn't want to pump more money into it? Wow! Who's to say that she didn't pay for a 6 month membership, nothing panned out, the membership ran out and now she just doesn't want to pump more money into it? I agree. We can also look at this perspective. I mean some people would just check the site out, and if she's hard up right now, she'd temporarily not renew it.

carhill Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 OP, I'll just comment that tasking a woman to read your e-mails is not going to get her romantic juices flowing
EYECANDY000 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I refuse to pay for a dating site. Id rather spend that money on going out to an outing where there are men in the flesh! when I sign up for a new website and towards the end it tells me that I have to have a certain price to take advantage of the full website i deactivate the account. i dont think it has anything to do with being cheap. but like they always say women get hit on at least 2 times a day. women dont really have to work as hard as men do. sorry to say it but its true.
BobSacamento Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 True. Why spend money on a site when you can just hit up a bar with some friends and have a good time. If you meet someone it's just a plus.
