Having a family of cops I would have to say, no

Its a demanding job with alot of stressors, takes a very strong man and a very strong woman to make that work. If its a mountie, then your doubly screwed, they have to move every 2-5 years, its a good way to screw up a kid.

P.S. Just wait till he goes through one of his high risk encounters, some people can't handle the fact that one day they may not come home

Mounties don't move every 2-5 years anymore, they got rid of that policy a few years ago.

Sorry nicegirl, I work in law enforcement (which I am slowly weaning out of) and so does my SO. Here's the deal: there are TWO different kinds in this world.

1) One who doesn't put the job over their girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/family

2) One that does.

#1, like my SO and I, are fine as partners.

#2.... well, is a disaster in the making. A lot of people get sucked into the long hours (which, by the way, are a CHOICE - no matter what he tells you) and the job consumes them. Don't get involved with those kinds of people. It doesn't matter what profession, doctors and lawyers are the same way.
