I've never had this happen before so I was just wondering if you guys had the same experience before and what happened to your relationship.

Ok, so I'm in college and my school is out for the summer. My girlfriend and I live on opposite sides of the country, so basically, for 3 months we won't be able to see each other.

Did your relationship get stronger? Were you able to keep up with the relationship? Did you guys break up because you guys weren't able to see each other.

Me and my girlfriend have not dated for a long time, so this in my opinion, is not too good for our relationship.

What are your opinions/thoughts? How can I keep this relationship strong?

I am similar to you in that I am in college and apart from my SO for the summer, but we have been dating for a while (1.5 years).

In any case, the main thing to do is make sure to keep up contact with phone calls, Skype, emails, texts, whatever. Visits every once in a while are a big plus, but seeing as how you live on opposite sides of the country that probably isn't too plausible. Keeping up with communication is key, as it lessens the distance in a way.

For what it's worth, last summer when I was apart from my boyfriend we were having pretty big issues with our relationship, and yet it still worked out for us somehow. The time apart is difficult but gets easier with time. And when you two finally get to see each other again it is that much more exciting :)

If you both want to stay in the relationship, you will make it work. I don't see how 3 months apart, when there are soooo many ways to stay in touch, could make a relationship fall apart if both people are invested.
