I'm kind of unsure how to proceed for tonight... How available should I be for the guy I'm dating?

Me and The Guy do not have standard date nights or anything but we usually see each other on fridays.

Last night he told me he was too tired to come over but when we texted a bit later on, he was out at a friends house and stayed until much later.

I would assume because we didn't see each other last night, that we would see each other tonight (which I would like to do) but he hasn't told me if he'll be too tired or not.

A male friend of mine invited me out tonight and I think I'd have fun too - it would be with our kids just for a few hours.

Do I find out from The Guy if we're going to see each other, or just go ahead and make plans with my friend?

So he's too tired to come see you, but somehow not too tired to go hang out with his friend?!

He blew you off for your "usual" date on friday night, but didn't offer to reschedule for tonight, so don't assume anything. If this is an ongoing pattern in your relationship, maybe he feels like he doesn't need to plan ahead because you'll be available at the last minute anyway.

I'm sorry but it sounds like he's calling the shots when it comes to your dates and you're more than happy to oblige. You should go with your friend and have fun tonight. If he's suddenly not so *tired* and calls you later today, tell him you already made plans, but you'd be happy to see him another time. Don't be at his beck and call.
