What is everyones record mile? I wanted to see what the lowest amount of time it is possible to run a mile in? Aslo, wanted to please know if anyone has any suggestions of any other excercises to help flatten a stomach other than running, interval training and crunchies that have worked for them or if there are any trainers on her that may be able to give me any more tips on this. Thanks:)

My best mile is around 11 minutes. Keep in mind, however, that I am not all that fit. I know there must be plenty of people on here that are quicker than me!

well i have joint problems and can no longer run a mile.

however, i did at one point have teh beginnings of a six-pack.

i did two 15-20 minute ab workouts a day. I varied the type of crunches/sit ups that I was doing to include side bends to work the obliques, situps, crunchies and reverse crunches (where you bring your legs up in a controlled manner)

keep in mind the best way to flatten a tummy is to lose teh excess fat that is on it!

best to diet and exercise.

if your back is not strong, it is always good to do some exercises to strenghten the back because having abdominals that are stronger then your back muscles can give you back ache.

good luck with teh whole running thing. I only run if somebody is chasing me with a sharp knife.

note "sharp knife". if a blunt one, eh, I'll take my chances.

Thank you for some very good ideas W2T. I will definitely have to take some of those crunchie ideas and incorporate them. It is going well, and I am always looking for ways to give myself a variety to "shock" my body so I get a more effective workout so my body doesnt get used to it and not respond as well.

My roommate and I both look at Loveshack nightly, and we both got a chuckle at the knife comment, haha!

Take care:D

Yep, cardio is one of the better ways to lose that stubborn belly fat. If you don't lose it, you can do all the ab exercises you want and you'll still only be showing a keg instead of a six-pack. Also, eating well helps a lot too. I guess that's a no brainer though.

Cardio can come in many forms, not just running. Swimming is fantastic, or running in the water is great and very low impact on your knees and shins.

The fastest mile I ever ran was 5:15 but that was back in the day. Recently I ran the San Diego marathon (25.6 miles) and my mile time averaged around 8:30 to 9 min a mile. I actually was passed by a little old lady and that's when I figured I had to kick it into high gear.

FYI, the world record for the mile is something around 3:43.....
