What do you think?

Don't you think it's a very fine line? Therefore hard to define?

Depends. If there's attraction, and touching- yes very wrong. If it's just to get a laugh, maybe a compliment for your ego- not so much.

so flirting like having sexy chat is not cheating or showing on webcam naked?

Posted

There's a difference between flirting and hitting on someone. A little flirting is innocent and not cheating, it's a normal human interaction.

You'd have to define "sexy chat" but that doesn't sound like flirting to me, that sounds over the line.

Chatting naked via webcam is not flirting either, it's inappropriate.

Oh hell yeah that's cheating. That's cybersex, not flirting.

Flirting is very subjective. Everyone has their own definition of the word and limits on what is acceptable and what isn't. It all depends.

while I don't think its cheating, to me its kind of like cheating without actually cheating.

flirting is showing a sexual interest in someone else. And if someone thinks I'm off with that thinking.....would you flirt with someone you aren't attracted to? don't think so.

So if you are in a committed relationship, and your partner is flirting, it means they are sending out signals to someone else that says, "I want you". Not real respectful to one's partner.

For me, a lot of times I will flirt with someone not because any part of me wants to get in their pants, but because it's kind of a friendly way to talk to someone. Like when I checked into my hotel today the woman behind the desk was very overweight and unattractive, but when I came to the counter I said hello gorgeous (which is kind of flirting right?) and that got a smile out of her lending some mirth to an otherwise mundane exchange.

Then again if it had been a guy I would have had an entirely different approach!

But I think there are levels of flirting, the one end of the range being the exchange I described above, and the other end being hitting on someone.

I flirt. And it very rarely has ever had to do with sex. When my Fed-Ex guy comes to the door, I tell him he has fantastic legs - and he does! He gets a life in his spirits, and I get to enjoy his legs as he jogs back down the sidewalk to his truck.

Being naked on webcam? That ain't flirting - that is tres inappropriate if one of the people is in a committed and monogamous relationship. But flriting? not hardly.

The best people to flirt with is old men; they love it, and they always think I am a charming minx. Everyone's happy!

^ that's what I'm talking about!

Ditto. And I'm straight, but I flirt like that with men and women - it makes people feel good.

No, it's not okay. At all.

actually if it is that obvious that they are unattractive and VERY overweight, and they know it, its kind of insulting. kind of like giving out a compliment you don't mean and being sarcastic.

your lucky she didn't take big offense to it.

but what you are describing isn't flirting.

I agree, with the above poster. What you did isn't considered flirting - it's very two-sided in fact.

I think many of us agree flirting is a very subjective term, but if we all have to agree on atleast one common trait in flirting... wouldn't that be, that it is to show someone of the opposite sex (same if you're gay, both if you're bi) that you have some kind of sexual or mental attraction to them.

Keep in mind, I am not speaking for what people should think out there. I'm just GUESSING, that this is one common trait that I *think* most people agree constitutes flirting.
