Ex wife wanted every other weekend from Sat 6p to Sun 6p and she was not going for anything else. Long story short I get to get my kid every weekend. Saturday 8a till Sun 6p Tue and Thur I get to visit 6-8 pm (50 mile drive but what the **** do I care?) child support is $340 a month Im pretty satisfied but I could use fridays with him too. Do you think I came out ok? Almost forgot. I gotta take a parenting class. Judge makes everyone take a parenting class
Ronni_W Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Since YOU are satisfied, and have gained much more time with your child than she thought was "fair and proper"...yes definitely, it sounds as if you came out okay -- MORE THAN just "okay", don't you feel? Hopefully you won't be keeping "I could use Fridays with him too" in your head for very much longer. Why not just focus on your MAJOR VICTORY, instead? Wishing you good parenting, and many wonderful times with your son

Second you were given visitation..................if you don't exercise it you will lose it. What I mean by that is this;(Tue and Thur I get to visit 6-8 pm (50 mile drive but what the **** do I care?)) If you don't make every tuesday and thursday for the next 6 to 9 months you lose that time. You have 84 hrs a month ( 68 hrs on 2 weekends, 16 hours for 4 tuesdays and 4 thursdays) After about 9 months to a year with no problems you can ask for every other weekend Friday to Sunday evening, and one evening per week. Very true enjoy your victory. But get ready for the up comming battles. PS I won custody of my 2 children in New York. What State r u in

My son's dad hasn't bothered to use his visitation time in a year and he gets a travel deduction from the child support he doesn't pay.

Remember ANYTHING is better than 1 hour a week when SHE feels like it. I never would keep my son away from his mother. not like she did me. that is just wrong, selfish, & spiteful. I will be there every tue. and thur. reguardless. BTW I am in TX

I remember when I went through this, I read somewhere something I will always remember "The most selfish thing a person can do to another person, is to not let them see their children" It is the reason that although the federal courts have stayed out of family law, they did rule in the early 90's that seeing your children was protected under the Constitution under The pursuit of happiness
