Is there a difference between being "on a Break" and "Broken Up" ??

Nope it's the same thing. Generally in breaks you date other people etc like you would do if you were broken up. The only difference is people who are on breaks often have an idea they will get back together.

They have different implications but they are empirically and functionally equivalent, really.

this is why I think the idea of a "break" is stupid. Its usually only one side that wants it to be a "break".

people that want a "break" want to be able to screw around, yet keep the other dangling on a string. If thats the case, just break up and be done with it.

My guy and I were "on a break" a little over a year ago. It was a good thing, and we're together. Neither of us dated others during that time though.

 

So... It depends on the relationship and the people in it.

Any problem that is solved by a "break" can be solved through means OTHER than breaks, and without the potential downsides OF breaks.

You're very right, I had a friend in school who was notorious for going on breaks just so she could date other guys while her "bf" waited for her.
