This doesn't seem to fit in any category and is probably mostly just a rant because I'm frustrated.

My fiance is moving in about two-three weeks for a new job -- 7 hours away. I have offered to be as much help as possible -- help pack up, drive up with him and his dad, unpack, etc.

We lived together before but I moved home with parents due to losing my job last year. While living together, we got two betta fish as pets. He loved having fish so, per his request, his Xmas gift was a 5-gallon fish tank. He ended up buying two cory catfish (they're about 2 inches long).

He asked if I would be responsible for helping him manage the fish during the move. He said perhaps we would have to give the catfish back to a fish store and sell the 5-gallon tank, but if I could either care for the two Bettas or help him transport them to his new place he'd appreciate it.

My parents are not happy about having any fish at their house, much less a 5-gallon tank that requires a lot of maintenance. They have a smaller house than my fiance and I shared (we had 1800 s.f, they have less than 1200) and I do not pay any rent due to my job situation, so I feel it's unfair to even push the issue.

I found info about safely transporting bettas, and assumed we would have to give the catfish back to a fish store. Now he is acting disappointed and upset that I "refuse" to take care of them. I think he is being horribly selfish. The bettas were a joint decision and I wanted them, too. But the catfish/bigger tank was totally his thing and I didn't want that at all; I got the tank as a gift for him and he bought the catfish.

I don't want that responsibility of taking care of all those fish. But I don't want to deal with him being sulky and upset with me for refusing to keep them at my parents' home. Opinions anyone?

PS My parents also have a very determined, curious cat.
