nes9 Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 So this girl and I had been extremely close friends for 2 years. I really liked her the entire time even though nothing was happening between us. Randomly, about a month and half ago, she calls me over to "hang out" at 1am and we hooked up. For 3 weeks we were having sex/dating and I was in a dreamland, the girl I had wanted for so long finally came around. I really liked her a lot before this, but as soon as we started dating I straight up was in 100% in love with her. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of the situation and didn't realize I was sort of competing with the dude she had stopped seeing to be with me. I was careless one night and came back to her place a drunken ******* and the next morning she decided she wanted to go back to "just friends" with me (second thoughts about whether she made the right move cutting it off with the other guy). This absolutely ripped my heart out and has made a ****ty situation. She loves me as a friend and can't stand the thought of having me completely out of her life, but I can't stand the thought of knowing we will forever be just friends after this. I recently told her that I need to cut all ties with her for an indefinite amount of time so I can get over her before we can even think about being "just friends." She hates the idea of this and I do too but I feel like its the right move. At least she has her other guy to go back to.... right now, I'm terribly upset and feel lonely as hell. Am I doing the right thing telling her we need to not talk for a while after our 2 years of close friend ship? Any support/advice on my situation would make me feel better....
