Hello

I have a question. My roommates, who are totally dysfunctional, have a pregnant cat, and three kids: 10, 11, and 15.

The cat seems to have lost the kittens, miscarriage.

A few days ago the 10 year old girl saw the cat losing blood, what looked like plancenta, etc .. (we were all in the kitchen when it happened).

An hour ago she was asking me about the kittens and I told her not to lose hope but that they might be dead, we do not know yet (they are dead, although I am not a vet, I have cats, the female cat was just was too young).

What kind of startled me is her answer "Oh, I dont care, I want them dead."

Normal of an answer? I know her family is totally dysfunctional but I found it really creepy of an answer.

Should I have lied? Did she say that to be "brave" in a weird kind of way?

Was my answer too truthful for a young kid?

Thanks

Maybe she just doesn't like cats?

She does, I guess, to an extend, not like i did when I was younger. In my eyes the cats are toys to them. She also has anger issues, doesnt listen, etc..

Sounds like hell incarnate.

NOT a normal answer. She might be trying to pretend she doesn't care, or she might have some emotional problems stemming from growing up in a dysfunctional household.

Yeah, long story short, I ended up renting a room here. And I am looking for something else, hell incarnate indeed.

As for the child, I do not think that is a normal answer. I think she is on her way to being a troubled adult. I just wanted to know if her answer was normal for her age. I have my dog, I lock the door when I am not home for obvious reasons.
