sumdude Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Latin actually bro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_alphabet#Letter_names
Soul Bear Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_alphabet#Letter_names Ancient Greek is generally defined as the Greek from the time of Homer (roughly 750 B.C.) to the decline of the Roman empire (roughly 480 A.D.). Rome was founded in 753 B.C. by Latin speakers, and the last Latin as a spoken language (Vulgar Latin, but still Latin; Koine was the Greek equivalent) was some time well after 1000 A.D. So Ancient Greek and Latin co-existed throughout the span of Ancient Greek, and the best answer is that it's a tie. My Bad

Trialbyfire Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I consider myself alpha because I do what I want and don't give a damn about trying to please women. Having women like me is not a priority for because I realize I will never win with the majority of them anyway. To your average modern feminist I commited a cardinal sin the day I was born with a penis and no amount of kissing their butt will ever make up for that so why try? Too many men these days bend over backwards to please women only to end up being doormats who are not respected. A woman can take me or leave me as far as I am concerned.Okay, you're left!
Sam Spade Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I think the differentiation between 'Alpha' and 'Beta' in nonsense, stupid and devisive. Life is not that simple. Each person has a different face for every other person they interact with. A queit man can be a monster or a mouse and switch between the two in an instant, arrogant extroverts crumble in the face of a challenge where the supposedly meek shine through. IRL I never encountered the distinction much, but on LS it crops up all the time. I have also noticed that most women on here will always describe their partners as Alpha and anyone who argues with them as Beta. IMO it is a label used as a weapon on LS and should be COMPLETELY ignored. Yes, and i never quite understood how desire to dominate is a sign of alpha maleness. Many men are content to be quiet precisely because they've got nothing to prove to anybody. A poor, but still relevant analogy would be the filthy rich dude who goes to have his 200$ lunch in flip flops (not that I'd ever condone such travesy ) vs. the polished day trader guy who struggles to make the payments on the BMW and can't afford to eat lunch out.
BenThereDunThat Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 I think people throw the terms alpha and beta around too casually: Alpha males = Outgoing, friendly, intelligent, (socially) powerful, confident, fun social group leaders, have their sh*t together Regular guys = Much of the above but not necessarily leaders "Nice" guys = Shy, anxious, low social status, maybe many friendships with women but few real relationships, push-over, walked on by others, clingy, needy, dependant, self-esteem problems Jerks = Exciting, arrogant, maybe/sometimes psychotic
