datura_noir Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I wanted to post a positive thread for the weekend..... Just got through talking with another couple in the neighborhood (younger), and they mentioned to us that they see us outside all the time, and envy us and hope they can have the kind of relationship that my husband & I have, because we have been together so long and seem like the real thing. We thanked them, and reminded them that it's work and it's not for the faint-hearted, and it was just a very sweet moment...my husband was beaming with pride from that compliment, as was I.
Touche Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 That is really nice Datura. How long are you guys married? We need more stories like that around here. I agree.
Ronni_W Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks for sharing, datura_noir. May I suggest a book and/or workshops at your local community centre or college? We do need more visible role-models who also have "the goods" on how to create and nurture real and loving relationships. Congrats to you and your hubby
Heroic Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 A couple we know were arguing just within earshot. The wife pointed at us and said, "Why can't we be more like them?" A few days later she approached me at work and started asking me how we have such a good marriage and that both her and her husband often talk about how different we are in our marriage. I guess it's nice to be noticed when your doing something right.
