Cracking His Shell / Getting His Attention

I'm living in this new town, which sucks. (Happy Hour is illegal here!) I'm here for a month, and when I go back to my town, I really want to continue seeing this guy. It's a total booty call situation, but I want it to develop into something a little less impersonal, although not any sort of serious relationship.

I basically want to know how to go about winning him over and holding his attention. I know he has a hard shell to crack, but he's sweet at heart and, not to mention, a sex god. The best sex we've ever had was the time before the last time we hooked up, so I know there's still a lot of chemistry and attraction there. I want to please and entice him without seeming clingy or weird.

My original plan was to not contact him at all until I was back in town. The last contact I had with him was after the last time we had sex, I texted him something like, Thanks for being my booty call for the last 2 months. I'll miss you. He replied saying he would miss me too. The end. However, I tend to call and text people a lot when I'm drunk. I hadn't contacted him until yesterday. I called him, he was home, he answered... all of which are rare occurrences. He said he had drank too much the night before. He seemed kind of down and alluded to the fact that he did some stupid things during the previous night. At some point, I said, “I'm super bored.” And he replied, “I know you are. You're calling me.” I asked if I could see him when I get back into town, he said of course, just call me. Blah blah blah. Nothing about the conversation was bad and I know he was tired and bummed out, but I want him to be more enthusiastic about seeing me. How do I enthuse him!?

At some point I feel like I might have pushed him away a little, so I want to undo that. A couple of weeks before the last time I saw him, he suddenly stopped kissing me a lot, holding my hand, or being cuddly. I think maybe he started feeling like I don't have time for him or that I'm not that into him, and so, he backed off a little. A bunch of times he had either called me drunk or after he got off work at 11pm, wanting to see me, but I was out with other people or at a bar, so I couldn't. He hung up on me once because he was mad I could never come see him. Plus, I make fun of him a little sometimes because he has this super tough guy persona and it's just silly to me, but I think maybe I hurt his feelings some. Oh, and he accidentally called me “baby” once, resulting in some awkward silences, so that may have caused him to back off too.
