Author Star Gazer Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 Thanks everyone. I'm very sad, it's all I can do to not cry the days away. It was a sudden loss. She apparently had congestive heart failure as a result of mitral valve disease. She's always had a heart murmur that didn't ever cause her trouble beyond a stray cough here and there when she'd get excited. We didn't think it would cause her death. We came home to find her having trouble breathing, and rushed her to the emergency vet. A few hours later, she was gone. They tried everything they could to save her. When her normal vet heard the news, she cried just as hard as I did. She was the sweetest dog in the world. She just wanted to give love. My BF has been amazing, so supportive.
Author Star Gazer Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 I seem to have seen about 10x more people walking their dogs this morning.
AriaIncognito Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I'm so sorry for your loss SG. It's so hard to lose a pet. Suddenly or not. They are our kids. They have their own personalities and whatnot and nothing ever takes their place, even when they are gone. I would agree with other posters, that when you feel ready, you should take in another dog that is in need of a loving home. It's what GiGi would want you to do, knowing how great it was to be with you :-) Hugs to you. My coworker lost her dog to cancer (and chemotherapy) 2 weeks ago now. She's been up and down too. It's heart wrenching.
curiousnycgirl Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Oh Star I am so very sorry - but it seems she went quickly and therefore did not suffer long, and I am sure she had a most wonderful life with you. There is nothing I can say other than I know where you are (been there) and my heart goes out to you. HUGS!
Author Star Gazer Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Thanks, everyone. I miss her very much. (There really ought to be a crying emoticon.)
