MeaganRaye Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Gross. It's gotten so bad that men at my unveristy are logging on to the computers in the lab and getting off by looking at porn. And what's so pathetic about it is that the computers are placed pretty close together so you can easily see what the guy next to you is looking at. Are they that horny that they cannot do this in the privacy of their own home? I know at one campus, they used to allow students to visit the lab until 10pm, but they started closing it down much earlier because of a few douchebags who were reported for jacking off in the lab while looking at porn later in the evening
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 LOL LOL LOL LOL :lmao::lmao::lmao: I feel like this is in the wrong forum, but man I'm glad I read it. This happened at my school too.
Author MeaganRaye Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Men are just getting worse and worse these days..I don't respect any man who looks at porn in a public places.
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 There are ways to get around them I think, but I've also known guys (yes, friends of mine) who actually brought their laptops that had dled porno movies on them to watch in the libs. Maybe just editing to the good parts for later? LOL
burning 4 revenge Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Anyone heard of firewalls and filters? When I was in the library science program and was doing some work at the local public library the librarians were telling me that they couldn't put filters on because of an ACLU injunction that was preventing them from doing so on First Ammendment grounds

wuggle Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I personally think that ALL libraries should have content filtering enabled to block access to pornography on their pcs. There is NO need to allow the general public to be able to access porn at a library. Libraries are for all ages and I am particularly unhappy that a child could see these images on screen. I am a particular advocate of NON censership of the internet but NOT on public PCs, these SHOULD be regulated. If a bloke wants to access porn he should do it on his own pc, but, and here is the flip side, he should not be blocked or judged if he does access this on his own pc. That being said, from the POV of the person accessing the porn, I think that they really have very little control over this. IMO if you asked them out on the street if they thought this was acceptable I reckon most would probably say NO, however, access to pornography on the internet is a very strange beast, more akin to a drug addiction. Unlike pornography in magazines, on videos etc I believe that the rapid scanning and multiple images makes porn access on the internet affect the male brain in a very strange way. IMO males 'scan' multiple images looking for particular things that piques their 'interest', amazingly quickly, maybe a particular pose, angle, body part etc , this is why most porn sites cram a screen full of different thumbnails to grab maximum attention. Designers of porn site understand how a man's brain works, no doubt at all. But again, it is behlolden on the providor to ensure efficient content filtering on publicly available internet access. If open uncontrolled access to porn is available from a library I would expect the IT management responsible to be reprimanded or given more funding to enable this filtering (filtering costs and often IT deartments are told to provide access on the cheap by management who do not understand the issues and seem happy to 'run the risk'). I do not believe this is a full censorship issue or against any human rights, I know of no cases where a providor of publicly available access has been prosecuted for denying access to certain sites. Sometimes people are just scared to be seen as the censors. If you don't when you are providing the service, who will ?
Trialbyfire Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 When I was in the library science program and was doing some work at the local public library the librarians were telling me that they couldn't put filters on because of an ACLU injunction that was preventing them from doing so on First Ammendment groundsYour post made me do some homework. This appears to be true, on a state by state basis. It appears that some libraries have fought back since, citing CIPA.
donnamaybe Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 There was a cop caught outside of the SW Washington Fair in Puyallup, WA, looking at porno on his laptop in his squad car. A family saw him through the window as they passed! What a doomis. Of course, he got canned.

People used to do this in the privacy of their own home. Now, they are in public places viewing it, and even jacking off and just not giving a flying f***. At least back in the olden days, when you would go to a adult theater you were in a dark room. Now they are doing it in broad daylight, where anybody a neighbor, a student, an acquaintance can walk past and catch you. I don't even see how they can even concentrate and jack off when they are in a room full of students. Even if its on their laptop, and they are in a public place, it's still unacceptable and just downright despicable.
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 That is kinda sad IMO. they can't control their urge to look at porn at home? they have to travel with it nowadays Hey, it was entertaining for the rest of us who gave them a hard time about it
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I don't even see how they can even concentrate and jack off when they are in a room full of students. Maybe that's half the fun.

They can be charged with indecent exposure, if they're jacking off.

clv0116 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Maybe that's half the fun. Maybe. There are some famous bars where one can get a drink and a BJ while watching whatever sport is on the TV at the time. Always seemed like it would be a bit of a sensory overload to me.
mogul Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I have no respect for guys who do this. Thats just pathetic...
Jersey Shortie Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 And people claim porn hasn't affected the general population.
sb129 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Men are just getting worse and worse these days... Oh dear. Perhaps we should ban them?
Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Anyone heard of firewalls and filters? Anyone heard of getting a date?! You would think at Uni it wouldnt be that hard......hard to get a date that is:laugh:
CandyGirlXO Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Maybe. There are some famous bars where one can get a drink and a BJ while watching whatever sport is on the TV at the time. Always seemed like it would be a bit of a sensory overload to me. Wow it really is a man's world. Yeah, happened at my university also.... it has also happened at my office job, the guy got fired. I work for the state.
clv0116 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Wow it really is a man's world. I'm not sure the existence of such places is a plus for men really.
Citizen Erased Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 There was a guy sitting next to me on the train this morning looking at it on his blackberry. Some people just have no shame.
burning 4 revenge Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I'm not sure the existence of such places is a plus for men really. hahaha tell me about i cant tell you how much money i dropped in those kinds of places it is nice to be able to just walk inside out of the heat, order a cold beer and just start fondling hot, curvy females at will of course when you look at your bank statement you realize just how much the goodtimes cost
samspade Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Porn should be enjoyed within the privacy of one's home, not in public and certainly not in a library. That said, I don't subscribe to the notion that things (or, men) are any worse than before. The medium has changed, but 20 years ago there were dirtbags looking at porno mags on public buses. There always have been and always will be social deviants who view porn in public. Of course, the usual anti-1st Amendment bozos around here would rather ban porn and ruin it for the rest of us than punish the people in question.
