Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 OK, heres the deal. As some of you know, I just came out of a 4.5 year engagement with my ex fiance (she left me) Its been an ugly break up... I met her in town last week to give her the rest of her things back, and ended up chatting to this STUNNING girl after she left at the coffe shop....she got my number and we have been txting each other. I found out today that she is a famous model, magazines, TV etc. I asked her if she could help me get back into modeling again. She asked me if i wanted to come with her to london for the weekend for a weekend away.... She asked me to be her chaperone... She even offered to pay for my flight..... Heres the problem, I dont have a ton of money just now and I dont know what to say. I dont want to be a sponge, but i do want to do this.... Hows this for a reply- (her name), your chaperone? Your in Luck...I used to be a bouncer! I cant spend alot of money at the moment, so im a little worried about expenses, where to stay etc...but i do want to spend time with you, this will be fun!' If anyone has any better ideas, please tell me SoulBear-----------needs help please!!!
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 That sounds exciting, go for it! I understand why you feel weird about the $ thing...but consider it payment for your chaperoning services It's not like she's working TFCP! I think the wording is fine also...except make it "you're in luck" not your and "a lot"! Sorry for being the grammar police.
itgirlragdoll Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 YES, agree with lora22, PLEASE fix your "your"! Other than that I think you are on the right track!
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 (Her name), your chaperone? you're in luck...I used to be a bouncer! I cant spend a lot of money at the moment, so im a little worried about the expenses, where to stay etc and I certainly dont want to be a leech! But I do want to spend time with you and it would be fun x This is what I sent.....replys welcome, good or bad =) oh bollocks....i forgot the grammar..stupid predictive txt!
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I'm excited for you, keep us posted! I think that was a good way to handle it, upfront and ball in her court.
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Thank you very much!! Now I'm watching my grammar on here I did leave it a bit long to reply to her....1.5 hours!!! I wanted to send a P.S 'sorry in the late reply, I was cooking and left my phone in the other end of the house!' Which is semi true.....truth be told I was eating, had a glass of wine and was mulling over what to reply as honestly as possible.. EDIT* Note to self- NO P.S!!!!
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 AAAo;iheoai;nevwem!!!!! LOL don't text her that! This is what I hate about texting!! So many people are so attached to their phones these days that everyone else expects immediate responses to everything!! It's OK for you to take time to reply...for all she knows you just got the message! Don't explain yourself to her! I don't care about your grammar on here just want you to put your best foot forward with her!
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 OMG...has it been half an hour already??? It feels like forever I have been waiting for a reply....at least it took my mind off my ex for a while!!! Lora and Ragdoll, thank you for your reply's Lora, you helped me in the coping forum too, your Ace Im having second thoughts now...my message comes across like im flat broke...which im not!!!
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 LOL I have read waaaay too many self help and dating books to not try to put at least some of that knowledge to good use, not to mention my and my friends' personal experiences
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 LOL. It's all good!! apart from that nagging feeling about the message coming across like I am flat broke....
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 hmmmm....I'm brainstorming a way out of that. I mean, it's good that you were upfront, but if you feel like it didn't accurately convey financial situation - hmmm. This was for this coming weekend? I don't think there's anything wrong with calling her to "clear up the details" because I mean, honestly she offered, you want to go, and for all she knows you need to confirm plans, because otherwise, OBVIOUSLY you have other things going on!
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Yup, this weekend coming.... ...I have not been this nervous in a long time....even the thought of calling her about that situation and im already getting skid marks XD
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 LOL use that glass of wine to its fullest extent then! Have another (I am)!! Seriously, I think you should just call her up, be like, "Hey, I'm really excited/interested/whatever about this weekend, but I need some details" and then see where that takes you - I mean, is it understood that you would stay in the same place and hang out together, etc.? Or is she expecting you to just show up at the shoot? sorry i can't think of a good text to send about the $$ thing!
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Its not even a shoot, its just a weekend away and out and about in London!! Im sure I was expected to stay in the same place, but being the gentleman that I am, I thought I would let her tell me that Its 11pm here now...may be a bit late to call her.... I just dont want to put her on the spot ya know... This is WORSE than waiting for my ex to call me ahahahaha
lora22 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Its not even a shoot, its just a weekend away and out and about in London!! I just dont want to put her on the spot ya know... This is WORSE than waiting for my ex to call me ahahahaha OOOOOOOH, gotcha! LOL!! Well, not everyone stays up til 3am, so maybe she's just sleeping! I understand the suspense though, I'm in something similar at the moment (except it's only 6pm here, wtf lol)...so wait to call her if you don't hear from her tomorrow. Wait and see what she says (hopefully she's not the kind of girl to just ignore you); even if you don't end up going to London you should ask her out to dinner or whatever - you have nothing to lose, and at least that way she won't think you're totally broke
Author Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 That's some good advice right there! Thankyou again I will wait til tomorow afternoon and see what happens.......
Author Soul Bear Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 UPDATE: So she calls me today, we have a good chat on the phone and she asks me to come over for a chat about modeling, but then changed her mind 20 mins later as she has alot going on...waxing/tanning etc LOL But thats OK, as she did say she would be busy today anyway, so I was a little surprised when she asked. We spoke about London too, and she said its OK as it goes on company account, if it was her paying for everything she would understand, but she isnt, so not to worry!!! I also managed to get across that im not broke! That was fun!!! She is just coming out of a divorce and said its good to get some time away for reflection. I had to agree with her! Only only thing, she is bringing her friend with her too...another girl. This could be fun LOLOLOLOL She told me she would get in touch tomorow. So ill keep you guys posted. ROLL ON THE WEEKEND!!!
Soul-Searcher Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Woop! Good for you! It is about time that you get yourself out there and start enjoying the single scene again.
lora22 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 AWESOME!! I wish there was a high five emoticon on here!
Author Soul Bear Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 Nothing has been confirmed yet...but its looking promising!!! I couldnt have asked for a better distraction from my current 'dalai dilemma' than this Fingers crossed!!!
Author Soul Bear Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 she blew me off!!!! The nerve!!! Got my ex on my mind anyway so probably for the best
Author Soul Bear Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 yeah she txt me, told me yesterday she would meet up today. So she tells me she is going into town for a coffee and what was I up to. Told her I would be in town in while and we could go for a drink or something. She then txtxs back saying she is on the train to another place for the evening. So i just txt her and said 'ok.If you want to hang out sometime just give me a shout'
Author Soul Bear Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 She replys 'will do sweetie, just sat on the train now barely touched my drink, raging lol,x' WTF?! ahahahaha
