WineCountry Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 WTF? LOL I cant even view that because I still have dial up, and i would be here until 2am waiting for that to load. I will have to watch that at work tomorrow. During my break, of course.
burning 4 revenge Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I love their food. Beer and brats. Actually, come to Wisconsin, and you'll see a LOT of that. Ive heard that theres been a mysterious foul stench in the air around Rhinelander, but the villagers say they dont know anything about that
WineCountry Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I love their food. Beer and brats. Actually, come to Wisconsin, and you'll see a LOT of that. Actually there is a German restaurant not far from me. I've been told it is excellent, so I want to go there one day soon. I havent had any 'traditional' German food. If the economy gets bad enough, my 'German' Shepherd might qualify. He is a big son of a B-- though. Have to get him when he's sleeping.

The beer is amazing Like heaven When I go to German restaurants I don't even bother with the food, I just straight to the bar
burning 4 revenge Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Also don't take any showers with this guy unless he gets under the water first..

Citizen Erased Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 is he constantly fretting about the trains arriving on time Actually, yes.
SoulSearch_CO Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 LMFAO. Very cute. Germans. Well, let's see. I can think of one that is one of the people in my life that I most admire for making a positive impact in other people's lives. Fiery temper. Tells it like it is. And if you can get the guy to crack a smile or laugh, it's the coolest thing I've ever seen. LOL I grew up with German neighbors. The old lady was very sweet in general, but I think she had an underlying temper that I never saw. As for her husband - the most giving, considerate person I've ever known. I was heartbroken when he died. He was soft-spoken and probably nearly the polar opposite of the first guy I mentioned (as far as temperament). Very meticulous, hard worker. So, yeah - hard workers from what I've seen. I have German in my family line at least on my mom's side. Everybody is going to have their quirks - even Americans. So I don't see what being German has a whole lot to do with it.
paddington bear Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 http://www.spiegel.de/international/0,1518,419029,00.html http://community.justlanded.com/en/Germany/forum/German-men hmmm the news is not looking good!!! I have many German friends and it does seem like the guys let the girls take the lead, they're not much into flirting, or American style dating where the guy would ask you out and pay for your meal. However since you're already got to the dating point, you've got past the difficult part. And as we all know, sweeping generalisations don't always apply. The being very blunt bit, well, I must say I've experienced that with German guys and girls, really takes you aback sometimes, there seems to be a politeness gene missing there.
Author Peaceandlove Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 wow, I did not expect so many 'jokes' about the fact that the guy is German- I though ppl here were a bit more open minded
Soul Bear Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Dating a German guy; what to expect? lots of hair, beer, porn, sex and frankfurters for breakfast
northstar1 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Has anyone here dated a German guy? Is there anything one needs to have in mind when dating one? Thanks! Usually owns a german made car, Audi or BMW Well made socks Ruthless German efficiency Good pilsner beer Poor taste in music No sense of humor
SoulSearch_CO Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 wow, I did not expect so many 'jokes' about the fact that the guy is German- I though ppl here were a bit more open minded I think it was more the fact that you asked the question. NOT just that he's German. Nobody cares about nationality. I don't think German people are from Mars. They're not THAT much different from everybody else that the differences can't be overcome.
kostoronto Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 wow, I did not expect so many 'jokes' about the fact that the guy is German- I though ppl here were a bit more open minded I take offense to your use of air quotes on the word jokes. I though ppl here were a bit more open minded
2sure Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Dated ONE German guy ( he had been here maybe 2 years) in the US. PUNCTUAL to a fault. Which I am not. Which I know drove him crazy. But instead of coming right out and telling me it was my own fault for being late and that if I wanted to be with him I would need to correct that.... He blamed the American Culture. Like, he would help me with my tardiness because it was not my fault. I had to explain to him that I was chronically late because I just didnt care about being on time to meet him. I mean, I had to CONVINCE him.
bean1 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Punctual and very direct/forward. Some cultures, such as American and especially Canadian, can find that rude but it really isn't - it's just a way of getting things done. I have a German coworker (straight out of Munich) and sometimes I have to be conscious of that when I feel she's rude (she is just "blunt" and there's no offense meant). Younger Germans are quite open-minded and liberal, the older generation is a bit difficult to deal with (my family is Hungarian, not the same but similar, the grandparents can be a pain). Take advantage of his cooking!
burning 4 revenge Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Take advantage of his cooking! Germans around ovens make me very nervous
