xpaperxcutx Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I feel like everyone on LS should get a dating refresher course because I know I do. I don't know whether I'm out of touch with reality, inexperienced, or just both, but I'm pretty certain we all know that dating has come a long since the time our parents either set up an arranged marriage, or went out on a formal dinner with a good night kiss at the end. Dating is no longer simple, and is in fact as complicated as a beginner trying to put on a condom ( it's the side with the most lube!). So to start off hook-up: colloquial English for casual sex without emotional attachment. In other words, " Wham bam, Thank you ma'am" for the guys, and " Omg, I just became a booty call", for the girls. Feel free to add your own references and definitions. We all need to be educated, LS style.
carhill Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Friend-zone This is a non-romantic, utterly platonic place a man or woman ends up when their intended harbors no sexual/romantic attraction for them. I call it "The Abyss"
Author xpaperxcutx Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 Gold- digger: someone high maintainance who expects you ( the guy) to pay for everything In other words " I'm not really a prostitute, but I'll still have sex with you because you're buying me things"
MN randomguy Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Nice Guy A name women give men whom they don't want to date but keep around to boost their self esteem or to set-up with the DUFF (See below).
MN randomguy Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 DUFF Designated Ugly Fat Friend Hey, she just thinks she's big-boned. But, women who place all of their self-worth on their ability to get attention from men will have one in their friend circle so that there is always someone not as pretty as them. Occasionally they feel bad for a DUFF so they will throw her a "nice guy" because nobody wants them. Added bonus its fun trying to manipulate people to make this happen. Like a real-life episode of the O.C.
Author xpaperxcutx Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 ONS- one night stand. As long as as a woman has a vagina, if the guy is intoxicated enough, he will bang her for that night only.

dreamergrl Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 "Come to my house" Verb phraseCome (verb) to (preposition) my (possessive pronoun) house (noun)= SEX. :lmao::lmao: This is a date This is a date, I am interested in you, I will likely call you unless you explain to me that you have no real interest in me.
Kamille Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I don't know how to participate in this thread, simply because I don't agree that things have changed that much since our parent's time. (Even when accounting for my age difference with Paper). So here Dinner (often introduced as:Would you like to come to dinner with me or I would like to take you out to dinner.) - suggests a high level of interest and a commitment to, minimally, wine and dine the intended. Much prefered to We should hang out sometime (often in written form, either by msn, facebook or text) - suggests reticence in regards to establishing a situation that could be construed as dating, for whatever reason. Distinguishing the nuances of the two strategies can be of tremendous help for those struggling with the dating scene.

kostoronto Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Ok, 16 year old up in the hizzouse, so I'll teach you old fogeys, with all due respect, a thing or two about 21st Century dating. Biddy/Bid - A hot chick "Did you see those biddies, mang? Wowwwww" Dealing with - Not officially dating, but the amount of time I spend with her, we really should be exclusive "I've been dealing with this chick for a few months now. She better put out soon." Wheel - Depends who you ask, but it generally means you have achieved success with a female. "Man, I wheeled that bid sooo hard." "Dude, you only got her number." "It's still a wheel." Square Wheels - When someone has no wheels. They often get their wheels at the marina. Them wheeling is referred to as the boatshow. Mother Hen - The friend that cock blocks everyone. Usually bitter that she got the brains and not the looks in the family. Takes out that bitterness on prospective dates of her friends. "That mother hen wouldn't let me talk to her friend." I'll think of some more later...there's an infinite number of these terms

With the possible exception of the last. What the hell is wrong with kids these days? The vernacular does not need to change every 10 minutes.
dreamergrl Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Times are a'changin'. What can I say? a'changin' you say?
Chocolat Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 That's a [madeup] word. Look it up in my head. ROFL! The more things change... The Times They Are A'Changing (Bob Dylan, 1963) Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide The chance won't come again And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin'. For the loser now Will be later to win For the times they are a-changin'. Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled There's a battle outside And it is ragin'. It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin'. Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin'. Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'. The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin'.
oscakool Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 If you guys really want to improve your game, then we should talk. I coach guys on becoming real, attractive men for a living. NOT pick-up artists. Stay away from those PUA sites. All they do is "teach" you lame lines and techniques that don't work without the proper calibration.

You're right Lora, I definitely misread the title. I wish I could edit my post but I can't I have my own term I want to introduce: PUA: Better known as pick-up artist (vomit). A so-called "PUA" is an insecure guy who lacks confidence in himself and must devote his time to memorizing lines and techniques instead of working on himself to become a real man. These so-called pick-up artists rarely ever attract a woman, yet they try to fool us like they do. Thankfully, women are very smart and can smell the bull**** from a mile away
