dreamergrl Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 So someone I've been corresponding with gave me his number today, telling me if I'm bored or whatever I should let him know. Do I even dare tangle my mess and hit up a new guy?
Intricategirl Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I'm just getting to these boards after starting to date again. What's the backstory? Without knowing any details, why not? On the other hand, if you're involved with someone, probably best not to.

No exclusive talk has been happening...
xpaperxcutx Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Yeah sure why not, but you know he's going to be the rebound right?
Author dreamergrl Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 Yeah sure why not, but you know he's going to be the rebound right? Now here's where I'm confused. How can it be a rebound if I haven't been exclusively in a relationship with D? Also, I thought D could have been considered a rebound from my LDR X, but most thought since it had only been about 2 1/2 months long, it wasn't a rebound.
Trialbyfire Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Don't. I think you should try to get your life stabilized, before taking on anything new.

If you pursue with new guy, you're trying to make yourself forget D.

Which means I've been rebounding since X. Maybe it is time for a guy break. I didn't even think of it in that sense.
xpaperxcutx Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 If you have to think about it, every guy that comes along is going to be a rebound of the last guy until you've actually gotten out of the state of mind that you need another guy in your life to preoccupy your time.
Kamille Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I vote for a dating time out too. Plus, maybe I'm just being a bit overprotective of you, but I really don't like the "if you're bored" line. It's too passive and leaves the plans up to you. So also give this guy a thumbs down, on top of the dating time out. No and no.

For a while a friend said she was gonna come out with me, but then backed out, like last weekend. Flaky guys, flaky friends. I'm in a rut all around.
Kamille Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 that sucks... Wanna trade places? Told friends I would go out but all I feel like doing is staying in and watching movies. Anything you could do on your own that you enjoy doing (and that releases serotonins )?

Do I even dare tangle my mess and hit up a new guy? Sure. Why don't you let him know what's up? Ya know, coffee would be nice because it's easy, light and non-committal, like a breeze. To add a little, no offense but if a guy is flaky/ cancels/ breaks dates, he's a MAYBE guy meaning he's a pro. Don't waste your time and energy thinking you'll get him because it'll be a waste of time and money. Recognize the direction, make the call and move on.
