mum.of.3 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Hi, I have been married just 18 months, everything started great, we have three children (2 which are mine from a previous relationship) from about a month after we married he went strange. He wants the old type of women that cooks, cleans, and lives for his every need. this is no me and he knew it. he treats my daughters like they are just an inconvenience that wont go away. if we have a fight he wont talk about it he wont talk to anyone at all for days. I don't know what to do anymore, Ive tried being the things he wants but it just isn't me. I don't want to give up on my marriage this early in but my kids and I aren't happy. Any suggestions?
TaraMaiden Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Don't compromise your children's happiness for a man who is not their father. Either insist he goes to counselling with you, or tell him to leave. Don't worry about the length of a marriage. It's quality that counts, not quantity. I have known my partner for a couple of years now, and he has loved me more than my ex- ever did, in the whole of our 15 year marriage. Do something, for the sake of your children. Do not subject them to his hostility, simply because you signed a bit of paper. In comparison to their happiness, it is nothing.

Marriage in 2009 isn't the same as marriage as it was in 1940, the 50's or even the sixties and seventies. Women can support themselves, and if they can't they've got court orderded child support and alimony? Men don't need woman to cook, wash and clean house for them. There's automatic washing machines and dryers, dry cleaners, take out, fast food, and microwaves. Guess what he's going to be doing and using should you dump him? Automatic washers & dryers, dry cleaners, and micorwaves!
