ruggy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I was thinking, since these online dating sites are basically useless, to try a real matchmaking service. They have a few in NYC, but how do you tell the difference in quality of service, match-ups, etc.? I guess similar to Patti Stanger's Millionaire's club, but for normal people. Anyone?
mortensorchid Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I wouldn't know where to find one of those, even if I was looking for one. I guess you could Google it to find something in your area. Tell us what you find in this.
Author ruggy Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 Pretty easy to find in NYC, LA, Miami, Dallas, Altanta, Chicago, etc. Though, it just seems to me that it makes the man look needy. No?
Tizzy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I don't think a matchmaker makes a person looks needy. These people are professionals at what they do, they've got a ton of experience getting people together successfully (if they're good), and they're probably better at it than you are (which is obviously the case if you are the one going to them :-) When I see shows like Millionaire Matchmaker and that other one on VH1 with that cute guy who got all the messed up girls together and helped them find love, I think "wow, that a great talent to have." In fact, now that you mention it, if I could afford it I'd probably try it, lol. I think it's a great idea and would likely be a much more fun and efficient way to meet potential mates. Sort of like a realtor, but with people instead of houses :-) They do the legwork and you just sit back and pick out the ones that seem the most appealing to you. What seems needy about that?

The women do not pay, the men do... Not sure, but doubtful its only a few hundred bucks. Banger is like 25k I hear. Even if I had the money, not sure if her services are worth a car.
Tizzy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I think the fact that people pay for the service would make me take them more seriously. It shows that they're serious about their quest for love, which is endearing. I still don't see anything "needy" about it.
SoulSearch_CO Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I disagree about it making a man look needy. It could just mean that you're too busy to wade through the mess of dating to find a good woman. Who are you worried about knowing you used one? The woman that used the service to find you?
