shadowplay Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 http://happydays.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/20/what-you-dont-know-makes-you-nervous/?em In the context of dating and relationships, I guess this explains why people need closure when a relationship ends, or why they may even act desperate when rejection seems imminent just to "be sure." I know this is true for myself. It's much easier to move on when every last hope has been squashed. Sometimes I've actually expedited the rejection process just to get it over with, so I'm no longer hanging in limbo.
Sibyl Vane Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I agree. Once the outcome has confirmed what you believed would happen in the first place, it is kind of soothing. I think no matter how utterly hopeless something is, until you've confronted it there is always a small part that wonders what could happen. Squashing that is the first step to moving on.
