Author sumdude Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 Touchy subject I see. Obviously, you're fat. If you really want to help your snoring problem - lose weight. My wife worked in a sleep laboratory for a few years monitoring chronic snorers and sleep apnea sufferers. 99 times out of 100, it's weight related. I'm sure you would like to think so since it would fit the picture you want to have of me in your head. However it's not accurate. I'm just a few pounds overweight, 10 or so and built like a linebacker. The loudest snorer I've ever heard was a 5' 2" little Filipino guy. At the time he was quite trim. The assumption made and tone of your post was immature and obnoxious regardless of your wife's experiences.

That you know an exception to the rule (not that I mentioned snoring volume) is not indicative of its fault. It's not my tone you take exception to, it's that truth hurts. *hug*
dunstable Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I've snored for years and I think it's become worse as I got older and put on more weight. Only one of my partners over the years seemed to be irritated by it - she used to prod me to make me turn from my back to my side. My current partner goes so far as to say she actually likes my snoring because it reassures her I'm still alive! She says she finds my snoring comforting. I love her positivity. When we first met, she did not snore but now with increased age and weight, she sometimes snores too - of course I take the same positive view that she does. Maybe it's a sign of deep love when we accept our partner's imperfections. If I was you, I would be reevaluating the relationship or at least monitoring it closely to see if there are any other issues.

Obviously this is more about you than me so now I'll just leave it be..
blind_otter Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 I've been to see an ENT. She found the deviated septum and some other minor sinus issues. She told me the septum surgery may or may not help the snoring. I would get a second opinion, personally. I don't trust doctors who tell me there aren't any options or hope for me...
