boldjack Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Carrie, I, for one, am extremely unattractive. The full list of my imperfections have been published in the "New England journal of Medicine", this is the main reason I haven't asked any women out in several decades. My wife is legally blind. I'm so ugly that I'm thankful for the milk man, or my kids would look like large Meerkats. I make my living, being paid by real estate speculators. I move into a neighborhood and property values drop like a paralyzed pidgeon. I'm so ugly that oncologists use me to "SCARE", cancer cells to death.
BobSacamento Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 If a person says they are attractive and refuses to show a pic that should be a red flag. Women do the same thing. They say their average weight when they are obviously overweight. Honestly, with online dating, I'm just trying to find a butterface lol.
Bells Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I've been on these dating sites and a lot of times, the guys aren't including pictures but are describing themselves as attractive. So far, less than 5% of them actually ARE! I know attraction is a matter of relativity and every person in the world is attractive to someone, but I am continually astonished at how men seem to perceive themselves (read my most recent example: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t188211/?highlight=bait) Carrie...true it is relative....but...I would have to say there are some people that I would consider "Universally" attractive. Meaning, if a hot woman walked in the room, the entire room of men would turn to check her out. I've actually seen it happen.
prettybaby Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 My man looks hot and he thinks he looks (almost below) average. So no, not all men think they're good looking lol
Untouchable_Fire Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 A man saying they are attractive isn't conceit, It is self esteem and self confidence.. How many women would go out with a guy that says they are ugly ?.. ZERO I certainly wouldn't go out with a woman who didn't think highly of themselves.. Bingo! Women tend to go for confidence above all other personality traits.
yeex Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I thought it was a given, at this point, to ignore all profiles without a picture. I can't believe people still post profiles without pictures.
SoulSearch_CO Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I've heard a saying once that men usually think they're a Ferrari even with a Yugo body. Women usually think they're a minivan even with the body of a Porsche.
BCCA Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I think confidence is great, but some people definitely go overboard. I see profiles all the time of 'average/athletic' women who weight more than I do, and are 5 inches shorter. Online dating is so full of misleading, lying, and cover-ups that I'm totally turned off to it. Everyone on online dating sites exagerates what they look like.
Land Shark Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I personally would never make any claims like "I'm attractive" or "I'm smart" or "I'm funny" or whatever. All those things are in the eye of the beholder. I prefer my girl to think all those things are true. But whether I tell her they are true or not, she's going to make up her own mind. That just makes it a waste for me to even bother pointing it out.
burning 4 revenge Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Oh... Oops. I know how you feel BeautifulMan I'm so beautiful butterflies sworm to frame my head with a halo, birds sing bitter and mournful chants about the cruelty of beauty and angels forgo paradise to sleep naked in my bed
Sam Spade Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 It's more complicated than that. I'm the handsomest cat on earth (el gato guapo, thank you very much), but that's only apparent to a specific breed of women: the cute, traditional, clasically oriented demure chicks that the only surefire road to relationship bliss goes through Bogie's five o'clock shadow, first right after Charles Bronson's dimples. Any woman that fails to recognize the above is screwed in the head as far as I am concerned .
Sam Spade Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I've heard a saying once that men usually think they're a Ferrari even with a Yugo body. Women usually think they're a minivan even with the body of a Porsche. If that van's rockin', don't come knockin'! I prefer girls built for comfort to ones built for speed. A little insecurity is very cute ande makes for a trouble-free relationship.

Land Shark Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 But LandShark, you're so rakishly handsome, with that chiseled snout, a bold, direct gaze and sharp teeth and smooth chest... And did I have to point any of that out to you? You forgot to mention my pleasant smile.
neowulf Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Heh. I'd never say I was "good looking". I'd say I was "average looking" (despite the fact that a number of girlfriends have stated they find me handsom). I've always figured it was my personality that sealed the deal most of the time anyways
WhyYesThankYou Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I've heard a saying once that men usually think they're a Ferrari even with a Yugo body. Women usually think they're a minivan even with the body of a Porsche. [raises glass in a toast to eloquence and accuracy]
