I'm trying to get back into the game, so I've put up profiles once again. I've been accused of liking one of two extremes : pretty boys or Lurch from the Addams Family. But I digress ...

I don't mean to sound shallow, and I hate to say this, but I seem to just be getting responses (where they are contacting me) from guys who are fat. Not a little overweight, but I mean obese. I've given them a shot here and there, and they sound and act desperate. It's very mean of me to say this, but their actions prove otherwise, which is quite sad.

I wish there was a way to put a stipulation on the profile saying I wanted someone with ... a good body. But then again I am getting winks from black guys when I am not interested either and have put my race requirements on it as well.

You could do the unthinkable and try meeting people in person instead. Good looking guys dont need to use dating sites, they go to the meat market clubs with other people like them.

Your experience is common on the online dating sites. Technically, other people search you on their preference, not yours. Or that they find you by a keyword search, which does not filter out anything else other than region/age. It takes only a mouse clicking to send out "I'm interested" signal and many men do it only by glimpsing at your photo. The bottomline is...just get used to what it is like dating online. The downside of online dating is, after a few days of obsessive reading of profiles, a few attempts of emailing that never get answered, and saying no to a bunch of you-don't-fit-in-my-preference-at-all, it grows tiring really fast.

I'm actually impressed that only a few men send me "I'm interested" after I put "friendship only" in the headline. So they do read...eh? :-)
