I'm a fifty yo woman and have a rather shy and ladylike demeanor. I work at a large high school and I've totally fallen for another teacher--a man close to my age and interests. He is quite dignified and very handsome, but I can't tell if he likes me or not--many times he doesn't even look up when I come into his classroom, but when I see him in the hallway between classes, he does the Gomer Pyle routine--the little shy shuffle. Also, he only seems to be shy around me, so I'm thinking there is hope. Well things aren't progressing too quickly at this rate and school is almost out and I will most likely be working somewhere else next fall, so I'm thinking of slipping him a note w/ my phone number on the last day of school. My reasoning is that if he doesn't call me, I'll at least be recovered from the disappointment by next fall if I do come back. Also, it would be easy to avoid him if I feel the need to. I just don't know if it would come off as too weird or if someone has any other suggestions on how to let him know that i'm interested besides the eye contact I've been working so hard to establish.

I'm always fascinated by stories like this. When I was in school, I had no idea that teachers were people with real lives and emotions. I always assumed they were like robots, just there to prattle on to us about random ****, then power down for the night at 3 o'clock.

I like your idea, by the way. Gomer is probably too shy to make the first move.
