Any thoughts? Or just your comments on what you think of facebook addicts?

Don't know where else to post this but since I've seen a previous thread, in which someone mentioned that his girlfriend kept posting on facebook, I thought I would just try posting this thread here.

 

Facebook was started as a social utility for friends to keep in touch. I've seen some of my friends posting almost non-stop what they're doing, where they've been and their thoughts on this and that (the lamest one I've come across is about the weather; no thought involved in this one but just about the temperatures of the day). Other friends keep changing their profile photos and some others just add friends to boost their lists of friends (in the hope of appearing popular). Is that normal? Is that really the reason for facebook? Or has it indulged in some people's attention-seeking selves?

 

Or perhaps I've stuck in a time warp and haven't kept up?

 

I hope I don't come across as critical but I really wonder what goes on in these minds. If I really wanted to keep in contact, I would prefer an email or a phone call. Not just posting some vacation pictures to let everyone know I'm still alive.

 

I would like your views while I go deactivate my facebook account.
