mehim Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 My friends pick on me, that I dont stay single, always dating someone, usually im in long term relationships. I dont mind it, I like it when a man always looks at me and wants me and gives me attention, and needs me as well. The thing is now, I'm single, I kinda like it, cuz it gives me the freedom of meeting new people, but at the same time I dont have someone consistant. I get bored, although I work, excersice, and hang out with friends, I still feel bored. I know its bad to think that, but I'm used to spending time with someone, and now I don't. Gosh I feel like I just want to be with someone just to fill my time. On the other hand I'll be starting school in June, so I can't wait for that, hopefully this will keep me busy. Any of you feel the need of having someone all the time, or like the feeling of being wanted by someone? Or am I a crazy girl for thinking that? hehehehe.
Glenn Quagmire Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Save yourself the headache and just get a puppy.
SoulSearch_CO Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I'm thinking that you sound young. You don't have a well enough defined sense of self, and so you need that constant reflection from another human being to tell you who you are. Almost like the infant with the mirror - when it can't see itself in the mirror, it ceases to exist. I think this is a good time in your life for growth. Find out who you are on your own without needing someone else to cling to.
zhsoj Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Save yourself the headache and just get a puppy. Seconded. Just be aware that they do actually take lots of work to own responsibly...
carhill Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Perhaps a cat is a better choice I'm thinking that you sound young. Well, she was 19 in July 2004 when she posted her first thread here, so that would make her around 24 now. She's got a lot of backstory. Worth a quick read... OP, you might be defining yourself through your relationships instead of sharing yourself through them. Examine that.

A cat couldn't care less if you were alive or dead. In fact it might prefer the latter. A dog on the other hand will always be excited to see you.
Ruby Slippers Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Well, I'm 32 and I still feel this way sometimes. Nothing makes me light up and want to shine like being in love with a great guy. I am in this confounded Single Year, though, and tired of having to shine all on my own. Sometimes it sucks.

When I've been gone for many hours, she can't get enough cuddling with me when I get home. When I am working at my desk, she will jump up here and sprawl her body across my arm, looking up at me adoringly. When I have company, she can't wait to meet them and love them up.

I'll miss our Siamese (she's at my wife's house now) as she followed one around like a dog but was self-cleaning and self-feeding (ate the rodents and birds out here) when the food dish got low. Great cat. The neighbor's dogs, OTOH, shyte on my lawn and bark at me. I have a nice hole in the field reserved for them since they left them after their house got foreclosed. I'm biding my time.

Well of course I am, but then I grew up with many pets (not a farm) along with two cats. They were great friends (RIP), don't get me wrong, but I've never had a cat defend me from drunk vagrants. My dog on the other hand is always affectionate and always ready to defend her people. Plus the dog is a great chick magnet As an aside, the movie Bolt is pretty good; though maybe a little childish
Author mehim Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 I'm young, yes you figured it out, I'm 24. I dont really want a dog, I already have a cat, but that doesnt replace a person. I'm not complaining about not really having someone, I just wanted to say that I like the feeling of being wanted, someone admires me, likes me, gives me attention. By the way, if you gonna think that I have no personality or I may have no confidance, let me tell you that I'm full of it. I'm the most confidant one, especially between my girlfriends, and I got a really fun personality. All it is I like having someone to spend time with, and sweet talk me and such things. I dont think its that bad, and I'm sure a lot of people feel this way!! I also agree that I have some growing up to do, but I already know what it is that I want in life, and what to look for, and what I am and how I am. Still everyday is a learning experince and I'm sure I got a long way to go...
