NoIDidn't Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm starting to think this Windy poster is a troll just looking to start trouble anywhere. And the "spouce" question. Seriously, you have nothing better to do than to correct someone's spelling? Nothing more to add to the thread than a snarky question, huh? And I thought I was the only one having a bad night. 1
Author Heroic Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 What is a spouce? It's similar to a kwigybo. Please excuse my poor spelling....
Reggie Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I think a "spouce" may be a good word for a spouse contaminated with infected juice. 1
tami-chan Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 STD infects all populations...some more prevalent than others. Still, not a reason to be casual or stupid about it. What's the socio-economic status and race of your patient?

What's the socio-economic status and race of your patient? I know a lot of posters will disagree with the relevance of race, but I am not one. The stats bear this out too. THat people of color are far more likely to be affected by infidelities and STDs as a result. The HIV stats are staggering for Blacks between the ages of 18 and 44.

What do you mean "people of color"...Asians have the lowest cases in the US.
Author Heroic Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 The patient was white, early 30's. While I'm not privy to that info my bet is they make a combined income of over 200K a year.
Athena Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I'm starting to think this Windy poster is a troll just looking to start trouble anywhere. I am pretty sure that Windy is SignedIn reincarnated (SignedIn was banished from LS for 'causing trouble'...)
Author Heroic Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Another thing we are seeing is a marked growth of folks in their 60's and older showing up with emergent STDS. One fellow revealed to me today that his wife died a year ago, his buddy died a year before. He has been shacking up with his dead buddies wife, they are in their late 80's. He hinted the sex was good. I laughed with him at his wink and nod. I just have a hard time imagining that the old folks home as "Peyton Place" but hey this is the 21 century after all.

Yeah, I've read that HIV is on the rise at nursing homes and Independent living for seniors communities. Seniors aren't into "safe sex" much. Kind of like teens, they don't think it will "happen" to them.
NoIDidn't Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I wish race was irrelevant, but in my line of work, I see the hard facts. The hard facts are sobering. Its sad that too many that fall into the "people of color" groups refuse to believe these stats even though most know someone that died of HIV or is living with it, or has herpes, or some other STD. But they somehow think they can't or won't get it. What do you mean "people of color"...Asians have the lowest cases in the US. I meant "people of color". Asians are certainly people of color, right? Just because their cases are low in the US doesn't mean its the case worldwide. Last time I checked, Asian didn't mean only Japanese or Chinese. The rates might be low in those countries too, but they still don't encompass all Asians. I would hazard a guess that Asian rates of STD infection are lower than even Whites in the US. And there are several reasons for that, I'm guessing too.

It's the Viagra/Cialis syndrome.....coupled with the fact that our senior citizens are living longer now...

bentnotbroken Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 It's the Viagra/Cialis syndrome.....coupled with the fact that our senior citizens are living longer now... And the women out number the men. They also believe HIV/AIDS is an "other people's" disease.

If your spouce is sleeping around DO NOT touch till you TEST! The problem with affairs is that one spouse isn't always aware that the other is sleeping around. The betrayed often has no idea that they are being exposed to STDs. They think that they are the only one sleeping with their H or W.
