Murih Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Hi, I've been trying to find this (rather obscure) body language's meaning, but had been futile. I was looking through photographs (of my bf and I) and saw a starking similarity in almost 90% of the photos - his hands with palms wide open, over my torso/stomach. Anyone has any idea what that can mean?

Anyone has any idea what that can mean? You mean like standing behind you with his arms wrapped around to the front, with his palms in to your stomach, as if holding you from behind? It may just be his was of taking pictures. I think unless you are talking about "candid' pictures where he doesn't know the picture is being taken, you may not be able to draw a lot of subconscious body-language conclusions from a posed picture. Posing creates such a conscious (and unnatural) scenario that who knows... Is your smile - in a posed picture where the photographer insists "OK, now... smile..." - really representative of what your smile looks like in real life?

Yes, arms wrapped around from behind, but palm always holding the stomach. Yes I agree that posing is an unnatural scenario. However, I believe hand gestures are often not as consiously manipulated as smiles when taking pictures. I've never seen a picture of him with similar pose with anyone, not even his ex.. But I digress. The thing that piqued my curiosity is that no matter how we stand, his palm is holding my stomach (no its not protruding)..
